as a younger man, i made mucho dinero mowing around 15 yards each summer. At that time i started on the outside and cut in circles around to the middle.
We I got older I preferred the back and forth method. I accent it by mowing strips.
When i get the the end of the row, I cut it (turn) as tight as I can and make the next row on the mower tightest turning radius. When I get back to the other side I cut it again and the turning radius matchs back up with my orignal cut.
I repeat this until i am done. I dont have to slow down and/or reverse to keep the straight lines going and I gain the look of the back and forth cutting and save time by not having to reverse or slow down. This doesnt really matter with a push mower as they can turn on the spot, this is for riders.
