Apparently there was an ad posted on the side of a bus that was funded by an atheist group here in town. It reads, "Don't believe in God? You are not alone." Then has some info about joining an atheist group.
There are some people around town that are refusing to ride these buses because it offends them. This is causing enough of a stir in town that Gov Culver has quipped in to state that he is offended.
It seems to me that he is pandering to the right wing demographic and trying to not seem too liberal with his policies.
All I can say is, "Who gives a shit?" The sign isn't really offensive and we do have a couple of things called the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion in the constitution. If you don't want to ride the bus because of an advertizement that isn't compatible with you ideas, ride a fucking bike or walk.
If "they" are going to more or less force this advertisement to be removed because of their bullshit "moral high ground" they should be sued for violating the first amendment.

I have a better idea. Why don't you run a separate fucking bus with no ads on it that charges $10 for a ride? Who gives a shit who is advertising on the bus? They are subsidizing the ride.

I think it shows that Culver is a pussy and didn't tell these idiots to get a life. Isn't it also the right of the idiots to not ride on the bus if they don't want to? It's the bus company that has no backbone in all of this. They had no problem accepting the check from the atheist group for the original advertisement. Does the bus company think the lost revenue from a few looney tune bus riders is going to be more than the lost ad revenue from the atheist group?

When you start playing the "I'm offended" card and start banning shit because of it, that is a VERY slippery slope. I used to like Chet, but he really pissed me off with this blatant disregard of the First Amendment. On a side note, I would LOVE to see more atheists on political tickets. Then, at least we would know that they are influenced by lobbyists and their own greedy self-interests instead of a book of stories written over 2,000 years ago. |

DART needs to do whatever they can to keep customers happy. Cuz you know... dragging them down the street under the wheel well just doesn't quite bring 'em in like it used to!!
Fucking DART sucks ass. I always see their cheap-assed vans in the ditch whenever there is the slightest bit of snow in the winter. Their drivers shouldn't be allowed to operate anything biggest than a golfcart.
All the same, I wouldn't let some ad on their van or bus stop me from riding with them. That's just fucked up.
I'll bet some of these uptight "holier than thou" old fucks that are boycotting DART wouldn't do that to the Prairie Meadows or Meskwaki vans carting them around. Hell no! Those penny slots are calling!
