Sigh....step backwards IMO with the OL. They got handled regarding the running game after we went up 14-0.
Arky St made adjustments and we didn't/couldn't counter.
I have high expecations for this team since the D is so stellar.
Offense hasn't found it's gear yet and not sure why.
Ok, Ok...5-0...yup....but felt very uncomfortable today...especially considering it was a home game.

5-7 at best. I don't see another win. Arkansas State was a cornerback capable of covering McNutt away from beating our asses today. You play like that against Northwestern, MSU, Wisky or OSU and you are gonna lose. The QB had all day to throw. Our o-line got no push. Hopefully, it is just a function of guys getting up because of the PSU game and looking ahead to Michigan, but we have to play better than that. And we absolutely need Prater in there, too.
A QB is gonna make mistakes, hopefully Stanzi minimizes his and they only come in non game changing situations.

Was wondering how the hell Arkansas State manages to stay with us at home. WTF? We should be 21 point victors in trhis matchup every time. Our offense needs to start doing something positive or it will be an L against UM. Now I am sweating that game big time. sparty has a decent passing offense, we better get one.

Iowa definitely played below their ability on Saturday. However, because Mizzou has played Arkansas State in recent years, that's not the first time I've seen them play. They have dramatically improved. I'm viewing this game in the same vein as the UNI game. We should have won by a lot more in that game as well.
Frankly, I'm really ok with these tight games. You learn a lot more about your team and yourself. I think this game helps us, rather than hurts us, in the long run. It was the classic trap game, and it looked to me like everybody took their foot off the gas expecting AK ST to roll over after we got up 14-0. It didn't happen and that QB for them is the real deal.
Other than Ralph, who probably tells all his clients they have no shot of winning their case, I think we can all agree that this game sandwiched between PSU and Michigan was definitely a trap game. We won. I don't think the O-Line took a "step back". They just didn't play as well as they did the previous week. Fortunately, they didn't have to. And I definitely think they'll be ready to go Saturday night at 7.

Keep in mind if it weren't for the pick-6, this game really wasn't that close.

The game was not close in the 1st half. Iowa totally dominated. Unfortunately it is the same old story for the Hawks.....can't put 2 solid halves together yet. When we do, we will look like a top 10 team.
Not a lot of life in the stadium on Saturday....maybe it was the dreary conditions......but after we got up 14-0 nothing really made the crowd excited except for disputed pass interference calls.

Keep in mind if it weren't for the pick-6, this game really wasn't that close. Keep in mind that if Arkansas State had a decent cornerback, we would have lost. Hopefully, Stanzi's passing yards will scare other teams into playing more balanced and not going 9 in the box against us, but if I had a defense with a good CB or two, I'd definitely run that defense that Arkansas State ran and force the Hawks to pass because Stanzi is gonna lose some games. One question, why the fuck do Sandeman and Chaney get so much playing time? The wr's should be DJK, Stross, Davis and McNutt.

Sounds like someone needs to call Zabel on the post-game show.

One question, why the fuck do Sandeman and Chaney get so much playing time? The wr's should be DJK, Stross, Davis and McNutt. DJK is still banged up and that is why he was only in there for a play. Davis had a good game and will start playing more McNutt was sick last week Cheney has played fine, we need his speed in the slot. If the entire group is 100% I think the guys you listed will be getting the great majority of the snaps. As for the game- We took our foot off the gas when we were up 14-0 early, which if you ask me isn't a good sign. I think we see a different team this week vs. Michigan. I still say we should win by 21 points on Saturday night if the O finally gets there shit together if not we are going to lose 2 or 3 games.

We're 5-0 with a tough schedule ahead...but every game is winnable.
Again, we're 5-0. I'm guessing if somebody had told me we would start the season 5-0 at the start, I'd be pretty damn giddy.
The game wasn't pretty, but we won.
5-0

We're 5-0 with a tough schedule ahead...but every game is winnable. Every remaining game is also very losable, too. At MSU is tough and Ferentz couldn't win up there to save his life, Northwestern owns Ferentz, Wisky ain't gonna just fold, Minnesota has that Decker kid who should keep them in a lot of games, OSU ain't a cakewalk, maybe we beat Indiana, but I think we have at least 3 losses on the schedule. Then, we go to Cap One and the media chirps about how bad the B10 is and we pants the 3rd place team out of the SEC for a 10-3 season. That's the best case scenario right now. Reality is we probably lose out, or maybe beat Indiana. The team is turning into a bunch of fatcats, I haven't seen such a soft offensive line bince 2007.

You're the type that would bitch about a blow job, aren't you?? Yes, if the gal giving it had a bunch of warts and canker sores on her mouth. That's what you don't get, this staff is just like that. What have they done to prove that they can win at East Lansing or beat Northwestern or win at the Shoe? Absolutely nothing. Our brand of "keep the game close" and go into the prevent offense and prevent defense at the first sign of a lead is precisely why Ferentz consistently gets pantsed by NU. Saturday's game demonstrated that this team is no different, the 9 game winning streak will come to a halt here in the next few weeks, if not this week when Ferentz goes up against a staff he hasn't played yet, and then you guys will all be like "Man, I should have listened to BTR before I bought my tickets to the national title game."

I'm certainly not saying they'll win the rest of them...but what more can you ask than winning all the games you've played? Sit back and enjoy the ride. There will be plenty of time to bitch if the wheels fall off. If the Hawks make you this miserable, maybe you should look into being a Gator fan with your Teboner.

our o line needs to re-develop chemistry... once bulaga fits in again we can develop a good rotation. His return hurts a bit for now, bet will pay dividends in the long run, and will speed the fatigue of the opposing sides d-line.
on the plus, well another plus, clayborn was still tremendous, and our tackles split the middle fairly well.
another plus is mcnutt, only 2 dropped passes "certifiable" this year. Some times I think he must have syrup on his gloves, (though his catches were easy this game)
Normally Iowa is middle to short, this game we were long and short. We needed a few crossing patterns over the middle to dominate.
Also this was a lopsided penalty game, the pass interfered all game long, and it did not go both ways. (2 drives were stopped, one in the endzone which resulted in a missed field goal, as a result of a blatant "no call" ) The refs, as well as that worthless bitch Pam Ward, were against us. Seriously the only PI call we got happened when the guy tackled our receiver before the ball got there. (watch the game again)

Cosign. I had two pre-teen little shits behind me that starting mocking my yells when we were on defense. I finally turned around and asked if they had some problem they would like to discuss. "Um, no" was the answer and I never heard a word from them the rest of the game. And they left early anyway. These kids were a lot like the adults there though.... clueless as to what to do and how to help the team. Content to fart around talking gossip and playing virtual grab-ass on their cell phones. I am looking forward to the Michigan game... when the real fans show up and get into the game.
