The wife and I have heard a lot about this film lately. However, as I no longer work part-time at Hollywood Video, I don't get the inside scoop like I used to.
Has anyone seen this or stolen... errr... "borrowed" it off the interwebs?
I would like some movie reviews on this if so, but PLEASE no spoilers!
I hope this movie lives up to half of the hype that we have heard. It's about goddamned time a real horror movie hit the theaters again instead of the stupid shit that passes for "horror" nowadays.

November 25th. The Road comes out. The film is based upon the novel by Cormac McCarthy (author of No Country for Old Men.) It's real fucking horror, because it really could happen, and it gets right down to the fundamentals of humanity and civilization. It's the frailty of man exposed. It's way more terrifying than any ghost or witch shit. It's so fucking compelling that most people read it in one or two sittings. It won the Pulitzer and is considered by many critcs the best piece of fiction of the past several decades. I strongly, strongly recommend the book, especially if you're a parent. It's the best book I've ever read...and I've read a shitload of books, including just about all of the "classics." The movie, judging by early reviews, is very faithful to the book. www.amazon.com/Road-Movie-Tie-2008-publication/dp/0307472124/ref=tmm_mmp_title_0www.theroad-movie.com/As for Paranormal Activity, it sounds like a TV show called Ghost Hunters. Except the TV show is actually, by all accounts, real. Which makes it scarier than fiction. FWIW...the trailer for The Road is misleading. This is not an action flick.

Thanks for the heads up on The Road, I'd definately like to check it out. No Country was a great movie despite the inconclusive ending.

The scariest fucking things are the red eyes of the people in the night vision camera. Boring as shit. If Paranormal Activity is anything like it, I will probably pass.

I liked Paranormal Activity - however it did NOT live up to the scariness portrayed in the interviews. My wife hates horror movies and was not scared. WITH THAT SAID:
1. This is a movie that will sit with you for a while. My prediction is that the wife is going to be laying in bed a few nights thinking about the movie, and having some not so pleasant thoughts.
2. Don't watch it in the theater. Too many young uns' killing the vibe with constant whispering and talking. Wait for a dismal night, rent it when you're alone or just with you woman, turn down the lights and enjoy. I really think the movie would have more power in that type of setting.
3. Be patient. Takes a while to get going. Overall though, I did like it.

One of my biggest pet peeves are the teen fucktards on their cell phones and talking during a movie. Of course, they don't care since their fucktard parents gave them the ticket money to get them out of the house. Watching movies at home, in stereo, with the fireplace going, my beverage of choice, and nobody else but my wife and the dog is a MUCH better movie experience in my opinion.
