If Vandenberg goes out and looks respectable in the next two games, eeks out a W against MN and wins the bowl game (and looks damn good doing it), are you convinced you give the job back to Stanzi? Dude's won some ballgames, no doubt, and he is a serviceable B10 QB, but what if the light goes on with JV and he is a stud? What the hell do we do? Half the damn reason we've had so many close games is because of inopportune Stanzi picks, hell, we wouldn't have been down on our goaline when he got hurt if it wasn't for a pick. I just don't think the dude is that irreplaceable. He's really not any better than Chandler was, IMO.

Addendum - I think consistent, top tier QB play is all that stands between the juniors that are on this team and a national title next year.

Dude is what, 13-4 in games he starts and finishes? Say what you will about the guy, but the only stat that matters to me is the W-L record. Jimmy V will get his time, but the team just responds to Stanzi...to use a Dumb and Dumber quote, "Just let it ride man...let it ride."

The only way JV is the starting QB next year is if he goes out and puts up 400 plus passing yards in the next 3 games and the Hawks win decisively each time.

Well, I've ridiculed and poked fun at Stanzi as much as anyone, but the kid has fucking ice water in his veins, is saddled with an incompetent OC/QB coach, and is still, still! an NFL prospect. I think he's an highly talented athlete saddled with bad coaching. Notice, if you haven't already, that QBs hardly ever improve under Kweefe, with the exception of Brad Banks, who was a freak of nature.
I can't see how anyone can defend Kweefe. It's like defending George W. Bush. Maybe you feel like you have to do it because of loyalty or some such shit, but it's still an epic fail.

JV goes out and wins at the Shoe, destroys Minny then we got ourselves a controversy. Until he proves something however, he is filling the shoes. Now, he has a golden opportunity here, kind of a once in a lifetime deal. I would love to see yet another cinderella Iowa story. Imagine a redshirt freshman taking a Iowa team to the Shoe and pulling out a win. THAT would be another top ten game from Iowa all time in my humble opinion. I only saw the highlights last weekend - does he have the talent?

I only saw the highlights last weekend - does he have the talent? Agreed. As for your question he has the arm, it will be interesting to see what KOK comes up with this week for him. I think he has the tools but just needs more time on the field which like it or not he is going to get in the next couple of weeks. I also think this week of practice should help him a ton running with the 1st team. As for Stanzi I think he has all the tools to be a great player, he clearly already has no fear and has the leadership those are two things that you can't coach the rest of what it takes to be a great QB comes with time and reps. In saying that he has made way too many bad throws that you just say what the hell was he looking at? Let's not forget the guy is only in his second year of starting and has been asked to do a lot more without a very good run game. The one thing I liked seeing from JV was that when in trouble or nobody was open he threw the ball away. That is something I wish Stanzi did a lot more and shows that JV can be a damn good QB.

Yep. Unless JVB looks similar to Peyton Manning over the next two games, Swingin' Dick Stanzi will be back as starter for the bowl game, most likely.
