I was taught to aim at the chin and punch with all your weight behind it. Hitting someone in the nose will create a lot of blood and one pissed off dude. A chin shot can knock the fucker out.

Aim for the nose. Then, if they happen to see your punch coming and tilt their head, you still end up getting them on the chin. Win-win. That's how I've been taught.
