First off, nice fucking game by the players. Keefe was close to calling a perfect game. Close, but no fucking cigar. Stross's ass should have been glued to the bench after the second fucking drop and the WRs should have been DJK and McNutts. We've seen it a thousand times, a senior graduates and suddenly a position gets markedly better, that will happen when Stross graduates and McNutt/DJK are the starters, with Davis as the 3. What a fucking joke.
Second, what the fucking fuck is god damned fucking Ferentz thinking at the end of regulation?
You DO NOT go for OT with Murray as your kicker. If Nate Kaeding was there, fine, but Murray, no fucking way.

Agreed on Murray. The ONLY reason he has been the kicker is his kick against Penn State LAST FUCKING YEAR!!
Time to turn the page and get a kicker who can hit a chip shot.

This game is on my shitlist. It's not a very long list, but it's poignent.
Fuck this game.
Fuck Ohio State.
Fuck the coaching staff (or those that decided not to push the issue at the end of regulation).
FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why didn't we ice the kicker in OT? We had the 1 timeout. We needed to set up a FG block during that timeout. As it turned out, only about 7 guys rushed the line to block that kick.
The Rose Bowl and Big 10 title are on the line and you are not sending all 11 guys to block the FG? Are you fucking kidding? Does KF and Ken Keefe not want to win championships? They played to lose at the end of regulation even though we had all the momentum. I feel bad for these kids, especially JVB. These coaches continue to take the game out of the hands of our players and that is simply not fair.

O'Keefe called the game of his life. He really did. He fucked up on the drive where Murray missed the kick, the run on 2nd down was shitty, but Keefe didn't miss the chip shot, he didn't drop that fucking easy TD.
Frankly boys, the defense fucking let us down. If our offense and ST scores 24 points against OSU, that HAS TO BE ENOUGH. We can't expect more than that.
But for every god damned talking head who talks shit about Iowa, I say eat a fucking cock. With a frosh QB starting his first game, a missing mid season All-American o-lineman, a back-up, dinged up tailback and a minus three turnover ratio, we took Ohio State to the wire in their fucking house. We have a pretty decent fucking ballclub and I am god damn proud of those kids. The staff, namely Ferentz, not so much (for the decisions at the end), but those fucking kids were man for man every bit as good as the OSU kids and I think our boys can go toe to toe with anyone in the fucking country. James Vandenberg looked like the NFL prospect out there at QB, not fucking Terrelle Pryor. If Clayborn and Spievey come back next year, that ballclub should be a serious contender.

I am usually a Ferentz fan boy, but not today. IMHO, that was completely gutless coaching at the end of regulation. 1) How the fuck do you not take a shot at putting yourself in field goal range? They were only 30-40 yards away from a possible FG to win the BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP. You are playing away, in the most hostile Big Ten environment. You are a 17 point dog, your team is being ran by a QB in his first start, and you have a field goal kicker who is shaky at best. What the fuck do you have to lose by taking a shot down the field? What, a pick? Fuck that! Run the clock down to 10 seconds and run ONE FUCKING PLAY! Take a shot down field. If it's picked, so what? They have the ball inside their own 35, with maybe 5-6 seconds left. Is our defense that terrible that it can't be trusted? I thought we had a pretty good defense. This is FUCKING INEXCUSABLE and is the definition of gutless, I'm-a-fucking-pussy-bitch football. 2) How do you not call a timeout to ice the kicker before the biggest kick of the fucking season? What the fuck else were you waiting to use that timeout for? Are you interested in winning the big ten title? Then maybe, since we are already out there dressed in football gear anyway, we call a timeout to ice the kicker and plan some sort of balls to the wall blitz and bring the fucking house. C'mon, this INTRO TO COACHING 101. My 15 year old sister knows to call a timeout to ice a kicker. GOD FUCKING DAMN IT! All in all, the coaching staff as done a great job this year (even O' Keefe). But the brain fart that KF pulled at the end of this one was epic. It's really sad, cause I'm not sure we recover from this sort of let down. The collective mindset of the players may be fucked, and we may not see another W this year. Oh well, it was a fun ride while it lasted.

yeah, I'm worried about the lack of confidence the players must feel right now. There's 100 kids on the sideline all jacked up about us pushing the ball up the field and then the coach basically says to them, "Nope kids, I don't trust ya." The PSU game last year was definitely a turning point for this team and that OSU game could be a turning point in the opposite direction. We have to absolutely destroy Minnesota.

Sitting in the stands in C-Bus, I was fine with sitting on the ball, the more I thought about it after the game the more I think we screwed up.
I can go both ways on this but looking back it's easy to second guess. If JV throws a pick or fumbles and tOSU wins before OT everybody including the national media would be singing a different tune.
It's pretty easy to second guess a coach after they lose a game.
One thing that I don't know if you could see or hear on TV is after McNutt tied the game you could hear a pin drop in the stadium. All during tOSU's drive the same and even after they punted I think most of the fans and even the tOSU players were thinking oh shit we could easily lose this game with a minute left.
Then after tOSU won the toss it was like somebody turned on a light switch the crowd was back into the game and even the tOSU players were jumping up and down on the sidelines, it was at that point I started thinking we screwed up a chance to win the game.
Again it's easy to second guess KF but on the road you have to go for the win.
But then look at the fact that JV should have had 2 more Int's in the game then he did the one that got brought back on the hold and the horrible pass to Tony into triple coverage.
After reading through that I sound like a Fucking politician!

A lot of really bad shit could have happened and since you have a kicker that probably should have went to Iowa State you have to sit on it and turn it over to the D in OT.

If Danny Fucking Murray is the reason why we didn't try to win the Big 10 title and Rose Bowl birth in the final minute, then why the fuck is he our kicker? Give Mossbrucker a fucking shot.

They're redshirting Mossbricker, I think. Fuck that, fucking Urbandale's own Austin Signor should have been the kicker this year but Lester Erb and Kirk Ferentz shat themselves when they heard a good kicker was coming out of Iowa City, they thought he was the second fucking coming of Nate Kaeding. WRONG. I have an idea, why don't we go recruit some fucking 40 year old ex-pro soccer players to come try out for the kicker duties.
Say what you want about Signor, but the fucking kid didn't miss chip shot FGs and extra points at the rate the current kickers do. It's a fucking joke. Christ, Signor's 32/32 in XPs this year and 13 of 19 in FGs.

As for him coming out of HS, he was a walk on. I wouldn't say they handed him the keys to the kicking duty and if Mossbricker didn't shit his pants last year the job would still be his.

The reasoning I keep hearing about sitting on the ball and playing for OT is because we can't trust Murray to make a big kick? This is the same Murray that made a big kick last year to beat Penn State, isn't it? I'm just tired of reading all of the fucking apologizers on multiple boards say KF played it right because Murray probably wasn't going to make a game-winning kick anyway. What the fuck is that?

What the fuck did people see that he could make one from 40 plus in that game? Especially when his career longest is like 41 yards?

There is something wrong with that picture.

I know most of you disagree with my thoughts on the end of the OSU game. Here's a FanPost and subsequent discussion from Black Heart Gold Pants. Pay particular attention to StoopsMyAss first comment. Since I know little about the inner-workings of a football team, his post is full of much better reasoning than I possess. One caveat, he does make a jab at "EA/Madden loving sports fans" as being the ones in favor of action at the end of regulation...I don't feel that way. Just thought you guys might like to read this: www.blackheartgoldpants.com/2009/11/15/1158180/did-the-magic-run-out
