Thoughts? This might be good for us, since we don't blitz anyway....

I'm good with it. I think we'll see a pretty good match up. It will all hinge on whether or not we can slow down their running game.

It will all hinge on whether or not we can slow down their running game. Thank you Captain Obvious!!!!!!! ;D I think it's a great match up for what we do on D, the way to beat an option attack is by having a disciplined D. Plus Norm has been around long enough to remember how to stop teams that run it. Having a month to prepare is huge. Watching Spiller run all over their D is also something that works in our favor. I think this was the best possible match up for us out of the teams in the BCS. Is it going to be easy? Maybe not but I really like our chances.

I know, right? It's why I get paid the big bucks...or something.
Not sure I agree this was the best match up for us. I think a pass-happy team, like Boise, might have played to our defensive strength, which is certainly the pass defense. That said, I really like the match up with Tech. Should be a fun game to watch...although I've already seen it called "unwatchable" a few times.

As have I but I am pretty sure that people would have said the same thing with an Iowa/Boise State match up. I guess the way I was looking at things going in, if we beat Boise, everybody says we should have anyway, if we lose it's just another feather in the "Big Ten Sucks" guys in the media and around the country. Not saying that a win vs. GT is going to be looked at as anything earth shattering but it's a BCS bowl win vs. the Champion of the ACC and adds to our impressive list of bowl performances over the last few years and gives us a top 8 finish at the very least.

Totally agree. Sets us up really well for next year as well if we win. I really don't think Ferentz will allow those guys to have a whole lot of South Beach kind of fun. The last Orange Bowl trip really embarrassed him and I think that's what's driven him in all the subsequent bowls.

I would also add that a win will make us a likely Top 5 preseason next year as well.
