Just kind of wondering what kinds of phones some of the other wastelanders have.
I broke down and went from a prolish flip phone which I've carried around for about 4 years and got a Motorola Droid.
I have to say, this thing is pretty fucking awesome. I would like to have gotten an iPhone but I'm pretty loyal to Verizon since I've never had problems and I heard AT&T's network can be kind of sucky at times.
Once there are more apps I think it should be just as capable as Apple's devices and I'm more than impressed anyway.
Just kind of wondering what any of you other dudes have and if you know of any cool apps or anything worth downloading.

I have a prolish samsung flip phone. My contract ran out like 2 years ago and because I am categorically opposed to the draconian early termination fee laws in Illinois that allow my carrier to collect $175 whether I cancel on day 1 or day 729 of my 2 year contract, I refuse to buy a new phone in Illinois because I don't want a new contract. Iowa, a state with far fewer Democrats imposing hope and change on the populace, has a rule that the fee is prorated every month, so maybe I will buy a phone the next time I am in Iowa.

I don't have any cool apps at all. The only thing I do is call and text...no internet, no bells and whistles.

I use virgin mobile, pay as you go. flip phone w/ bluetooth and some other limited capability. 7.99 a month +10 cents a minute. yes I am a cheap ass, but I rarely use it except when work calls or the wife needs whatever. Never done the texting, web surfing or any of the other crap w/ apps and games. Don't really need it or want it on the phone.

I have a Motorola Rokr(?) It is a slider, no qwerty keyboard or anything. I use to place phone calls, occasional texts. I just bought a ipod touch though i'll see if I use the wifi capability or not, then perhaps I'll buy a "smart phone" next time my contract is up (about a year). I think I'll struggle with not being able to download at the speed i'm used to at home though.

Irregardless, the Iowa Democrats and the Chicago Republicans are both much more moderate and realistic (and less scary in terms of governance) than the Iowa Republicans and the Chicago Democrats.

My office has blazing fast wi-fi so that thing is pretty boss for downloading apps and videos.

I have a Blackberry Storm and I am less than impressed. It is okay, but for the money it should do more and the touch screen keyboard is actually a pain in the ass. It is not a true touch screen.

Well, yeah. I'm quite fond of realistic moderates.

I actually have 2 phones. One for work and one for personal.
Work phone is a Blackberry Pearl. Works OK, but crappy web interface. Good for getting a glance at my work email, but nothing to rave about. Probably going to swap it out for a new Android from T-Mobile.
Personal is an iPhone. Love the user interface, easy to surf the web, check personal email, photos, music, etc. No problems with AT&T's coverage. No 3G here in IC yet, but when I'm home, I connect via Wifi so that's not a problem. When I travel, I'm generally in large metro areas so the 3G is always there. No issues from my standpoint.

I have a BlackBerry Curve, and I enjoy it. I rarely surf the web in the common sense with it, but I do use it to check Twitter quite frequently, and other apps that aid me throughout the day. I'm with Sprint, so when I'm eligible for a new phone come December, I'll probably be jumping to an Android based OS phone. If the Nexus One is available on Sprint by then...it's a possibility.

I've had this newfangles Droid thingamajig for a few days now, I'm still finding tons of cool stuff to do with it. Some examples:
Wherever you are, it maps out the residence of all sex offenders in you area and you can see a picture of them.
It has Pandora, which is awesome.
Serves as an MP3 player.
I got an emulator to play any SNES games (you can also get NES, genesis, gameboy and game gear games) and they are practically free except for a one time $3 download.
You can view your voicemails in text format.
There is a fast and capable internet browser (although full screen webpages are better viewed on a computer).
You can hold it up to the night sky and see what constellations you are looking at, the GPS shows what you see and is pretty dang accurate.
It will tell you instantly where the closest liquor stores are and give you directions and Garmin-style GPS navigation.
Instead of typing in a search you can take a picure of something and get search results based on the image you capture.
Fully functional GPS navigation.
I'm still constantly finding more cool shit too. What can I say, the thing is fucking awesome.

What service offers the Droid? I can't remember what my brother has, but his service is through Sprint. He had some fancy phone, and it's GPS was more accurate than an expensive Garmin when we were traveling around Florida. We had them both on to compare.

Verizon, I think they are the only ones who offer it too but I could be wrong.

Mine is the rotary 1977 model. It's awesome unless you have fat fingers and can't get them in the little holes.

Through all of my drunken stupors, there are two things I remember most about the past two football seasons: 1) an unnamed dude being arrested for a crime he didn't commit and 2) Seth's pink phone.
