Wasn't sure what to expect when St. Mary's played. Mostly white guys (versus `Nova's five starting black guys), foreigners, never heard of them...had no idea where they were from. I thought it was going to be ugly.
But my-oh-my...I was thoroughly impressed. They did so many "throwback" things correctly such as:
Executed a genuine pick and roll/go, over and over....`Nova was confused on how to defend it, Shot the three only as a necessary part of their total game plan, Boxed out tough and rebounded with authority, Helped each other a ton on defense, funneling the `Nova slashers into the middle of the defense, Didn't woof during the game (celebrated afterwards....that's OK) Demonstrated a noticeable lack of tattoos.
How freshing. I loved it.

If they are mostly foreigners I'm going to assume they are Europeans, who are usually way more complete in their abilities than their US counterparts. I've yet to see them play but I'll bet they can all drain 3's, run a pick and roll, handle the ball well and drive and dish under control.
If I were a stud high school kid I'd skip the bullshit mandatory college year and go play in Europe for a season instead to actually learn the game.

Actually I think they were Aussies. And they hurt my bracket, but Seth's right - it was fun to watch.

Aren't there kids doing that now and getting punked in the process?

I'd only do it if I were a surefire lottery pick, a guy like Lebron or some such shit.
