Anyone on the board a music lover? Any shows you're going to this summer?

I am planning on attending the following shows: 7/3 Slightly Stoopid (1st day of the 80/35 Festival) - Des Moines 7/6 311 - Des Moines 7/25 Jack Johnson/G Love and the Special Sauce - Apple River (WI) 8/13 Slightly Stoopid/Cypress Hill - Omaha I'd like to try to make it out to Red Rocks Amphitheatre, in CO, but the lineup so far doesn't have anyone I feel justified in driving out there to see. String Cheese Incident and Yonder Mountain String Band are playing out there. I've always wanted to see those bands, but I've only heard a small sample of their music and don't know if I would be willing to go that far to see them. I heard Yonder is coming to Des Moines though.

I'm also wanting to make it to Ween, in Minnesota, towards the end of June. I haven't 100% committed to that yet, but I bet it will probably happen.

I saw Clutch a couple weekends ago, and it was fucking awesome...front row - though I had to punch a dude that was molesting a girl next to me, and also elbowed me in the ribs trying to take my place.
I was also thinking about going to Lollapalooza in Chicago. Soundgarden is reuniting, and Gogol Bordello is playing that particular date. Unfortunately I'll have to sit through a lot of shit bands, too.

I am going to see The Offspring on 7/17. I hear 311 will be there, too, although I am lukewarm about them.

True story - back in the day when I was a lad attending Urbandale Middle School, 311 put on a free concert there. I refuse to listen to any "music" of a "band" that plays Urbandale Middle School for free. It reeks of desperation.
Fuck Ween.
I'm going to a Skid Row concert in Benton Harbor, MI in August and I'll play some others by ear.

Leave your ol' lady at the motel.

I think I'm going to see Ween in Chicago or Minnneapolis in late June. I'll go to the 80-35 festival here in Neck Monies. I'm going to try and go to Lallapalooza. Other than that who knows? Probably see some of the band play at Simon Estes, watching from the bridge and drinking your own beer is pretty sweet at those shows.

I probably won't go to any. However, I bought my little brother tickets to the House of Blues in Houston to see Ben Folds in a couple of weeks.

I went to 311 last year in Iowa City... was somewhat lukewarm about it but I like quite a few 'hits' so I figured what the hell something to do. I came away with a much better appreciation for them. They put on a good show and have a lot of good music. If I went now I would know every song in the setlist. Some good ones you may not have heard: Applied Science, Taiyed, Homebrew, Creatures (For Awhile), Feels So Good. My personal favorite is Beyond the Grey Sky.
I want to go to Lollapalooza this year too. Soundgarden would be great... but I'm a big Social Distortion fan also. I wish they'd swap out Lada Gaga for another 'real' band.

Just read that there is rumor of a Alice in Chains/Deftones/Mastodon tour. If this comes to fruition, that will be priority number one for concerts.

I saw the Deftones open for White Zombie and Pantera before anybody knew them. They were good enough live that I grabbed their cd the next day.

DMB is playing at Wrigley in Septemper, depending on the date and conflict with any Iowa football games the wife and I will be going.

Already saw AC/DC at the Bradley Center (Milwaukee) last week. They were on my bucket list for sure.
Next up....Tom Petty at Summerfest (again in Milwaukee (I like cheese...what can I say)) on June 26th.
Rock on brothers.

What made it official? Also, I read that whoever runs the "Nitefall on the River" concert series at Simon Estes replaced "Sister Hazel" with "The Wailers" on Thursday, July 1st. That's great news. Des Monies is going to be a good city for music this 4th of July. I'm taking that friday off to have a good 4 day weekend and celebrate America's freedom.

Here's a list of many of the bands I'll be watching this summer:
Spoon Slightly Stoopid Modest Mouse The Wailers Primus Gogol Bordello The Black Keys Jack Johnson G Love and Special Sauce Yonder Mountian String Band Dark Star Orchestra moe
There will probably be a couple more added to that list too. This is shaping up to be a pretty awesome summer.
