Still haven't gotten a raise. Time to go look for a job.
Is it pretty bad if I haven't lived by myself yet? Any tips? How to manage my money is going to be tough to do for me. Im scared of what will happen if I cant stop spending money. Moving out part I think will be easy for me.

Did you ask for a raise?
Never hurts to be looking, though.

Those fuckers will go up in a hurry if you aren't careful. As for managing your money it isn't that tough. Get out a piece of paper at the top write down how much you make a month. Under that write down how much you pay a month for rent, car payment, cable, utilities, food, and any other bill. What's left is what you can spend and or save. It's pretty easy but scary the number of people that have never thought about actually doing it. Most people find that they spend a lot of money on shit they really don't need.

It's not easy for a lot of people out there. Some of those fucking idiots think if they have unused credit on a credit card they have money to spend or just start passing bad checks.

I've bought a few thing with credit cards.
1) Our bed. They offered 2 years no interest.
2) Our TV. Best Buy offered a card with 18 months no interest.
3) My Motorcycle. Kawasaki offered 6 months no interest financing.
I could have paid cash for all of these. But it didn't hurt to use these cards because I figured out the monthly payments for the periods with no interest and make those payments every month, so as long as the scheduled payments are made no interest is paid. With the motorcycle I paid half of it in cash, and paid the other half the next month. I also got rid of the cards when the came in the mail, they are shredded, cant use them again. Again, I could have paid cash for these items but let the money sit in the bank instead where it is earning me $.03/month at 0% interest, so I come out way ahead.

I agree, credit cards aren't the answer. just like Twine, I abused the hell out of credit cards and wrote bad checks back while in my 20's, got myself in a heap of trouble and my credit score took a major hit because of it. Talk about learning the hard way, because of my own stupidity it set my financial growth and reputation back 5 years. complete stupidity and irresponsible on my part. lesson learned there, and also like Twine, I would rather live poor than go through that again, complete hell. As for me now, I have one credit card, it's sole purpose is to provide me with some sort of a safety net in case of emergencies while I'm on a trip. I'm glad I have it, especially last year, I was just north of Minneapolis ( 6 hours from home ) and the fuel pump on my suburban failed. $700.00 later I was back on the road, w/out my credit card that vacation would have been over before it even started. other than that, the cc I carry isn't even in my wallet when I'm home, I trust myself not to abuse it, but I just want to be sure in case " that guy " rears his ugly head out of the blue. Best Buy is not a good place for me to carry a CC, therefore it stays home in the safe. here is a good site to visit. www.daveramsey.com/

Did you ask for a raise? Never hurts to be looking, though. I did after I posted the other thread and still nothing. I really dont trust them honestly. They have fucked over some other people (some of my friends) in the past, so I don't really believe they are even doing anything to try and get me a raise.

Justin.....what type of work are you doing and what type of skills do you have? Maybe we can help you out here. I work for a low income housing company that manages subsidized apartments. Each year, they lose 20 properties basically because of the president who is dumb and has no clue what she is even doing. She of course is out this week, and hardly ever in the office. They started at 180 properties when I first started in 2005 there, and down to close to 110 now. I am embarrassed but I guess my job title is file boy but I do alot with accounting and complaince and help out those departments for the most part. I work 40 hours a week also.

My buddy was going to write out a budget plan for me plus I have people at work that will lookout for what I am spending. I have alot of mother figures in my life lol. The one problem with me, is alcohol and spending too much of my money on that. It might be a good thing that I wont be 10 minutes walking distance from The Game Sports Bar where Ive spent alot of money. Ive met alot of friends there and its nice and relaxing somewhat. Ive made a list on what I need to get before I move in. Very glad one of my friends from work is letting me have a set of plates, Cups, bowls. She is insisting that I don't pay her for them, Im going to though, I feel bad doing that.

Those fuckers are raping the god damned taxpayers of hundreds of thousands of dollars and paying you minimum fucking wage. Fuck that. Go get a job in a restaurant or something, you'll make way more money. And stay the fuck out of the bar, those places rob you of cash. Have friends come over or whatever.

Yeah man, you need to quit getting walked on, slap yourself in the face and realize you are 21 years old and the world is your oyster. If you can fight the urge to be a normal young dumbfuck you can get well ahead of your peers. I think often about the things I'd tweak that could have gotten me leaps and bounds ahead and appreciate the things I've done right to prevent becoming a total piece of shit. Trust your judgment, don't be a pussy, and do things you don't want to do knowing that there is a long term benefit. For fucks sake, you might even realize the satisfaction of doing things that are a pain in the ass have a greater reward than all the booze and titties in the world (which you will enjoy if you play your cards right). Man up, mother fucker.

Justin, use cash for your purchases. Groceries, eating out (try to limit this, use coupons, have a drink or two out then go home and have a few more), alcohol. Once the cash is gone, that's it. Leave all cards at home.
Look into Dave Ramsey for some budgeting ideas...a budget is a very powerful tool, and I wish I'd come around to the idea of a budget when I was your age.
