Well, bince people on the board have been asking for legal advice, I figured I would ask some medical advice.
The problem: I have had a sore throat for going on a week now. At first, it was just kinda scratchy, but now it hurts to swallow (there's a joke there somewhere). I have no other symtoms. No fever. No coughing. No runny nose. Just an increasingly sore throat.
My throat is pretty red and swollen when taking a look inside, making me wonder WTF is going on. I let it go this long because 90% of the time, things like this just clear up on their own within a few days.
I am hoping it is not tonsilitis or some shit like that. I know it's not from sucking dick because I don't roll that way. It's not from screaming at Hawkeye games because it is the off season.
What says the board?

That's actually one of the things they list. Although that is not my particular problem. I think you have to have sex to get that and I am married so... well, you know....

Yeah, I'm gonna guess it's nothing major but I rarely ever get sick... especially this time of year. So, it has me a bit concerned.
Plus, with having a little kid around, I worry about her catching anything that I might have. Kids are hard enough to deal with without them being sick. But even worse is having a sick kid and being able to do nothing for them. So I just hope if I do have something, it isn't contagious.

Are your lymphnodes on the side of your neck swollen? Is your neck stiff?

I had the same thing last week but it only lasted a couple of days and went away after that.

Could be allergies, although you'd likely have had that before. Tonsils sound like a prime suspect here. Are you taking any new medications? Change in diet?
You need to go see a doctor. It's probably not a serious condition but you're going to want it treated if it hasn't begun to subside by now. I used to be one of those guys who refused to go to the doctor and I fucking paid for it big time a few years ago with the fucking mother of all sinus infections so I live by a 3 day rule now. If it's not cleared up in 3 days, I'm going to the Doc. Of course if it's acute and severe it's best to just bite the bullet and hit the ER.
We've got a fine medical system. Use it.

Update:
Last night it was really bad, so I shined a flashlight into my throat.
My left tonsil is swollen all to hell and is all red. Now today I even have a bad taste in the back of my throat.
I made an appointment to see the doc and have an appointment tomorrow afternoon. I'm glad, because I really didn't want to try to make it thru the weekend.
I heard having tonsils removed is a bitch the older you get and I am REALLY hoping it doesn't come to that. I don't have the time to be out of commision for even one day. If I need them out, I'll tell them to do it quick, give me some meds, and get outta my way so I can get back to the sweatshop.... errr... work.

Sorry to hear about it - surgery sucks.
I am having an MRI on my right knee next week and will probably be facing some minor surgery (if there is such a thing involving general anesthesia). I empathize.

Update:
so today after taking some naproxen, the pain was significantly less. I still went to the doc though because a look inside my mouth showed that my tonsil was still trying to impersonate a golf ball.
The doc looked inside too and his eyes kinda widened a bit and said simply "yep. It's infected alright!"
The doc gave me some seriously strong antibiotics. He said he doesn't want to mess around and these antibiotics ought to clear it up within a week or therearound. If not, I have to go back. He seemed to think I would be able to avoid having the tonsils removed. I made it clear that would be best if at all possible.
Thanks for the advice everyone!!

I empathize. Cartilage tear I am guessing? And yes, there is no such thing as minor knee surgery. I've had two on one knee and know for certain that I will have to have more at some point in the future. Hopefully, not for 10-plus years. Good luck on it!

Use a bit of vasoline before gobbling down on BTR...that's called preventive medicine.

A full, 8-ounce glass of AIDS, some duct tape, yellow yarn, and a 1978 penny should clear it right up.

I'll bet Jamie Pollard's throat is hella sore right about now from being ravaged by Bevo's cock.
