No, I'm not talking about some gay porno that BTR has stashed in his sock drawer. I'm talking about the Big Ten (Eleven) Conference.
Who's gonna jump on board? I say the conference goes to 16 and adds: Neb, Misery, Rutgers, Maryland, and either Georgia Tech or Vanderbilt. This would bring in the I-70 corridor and the KC/St Louis tv market, the eastern seaboard, and would dip into the south and kick some dirt in the SEC's direction. It's about expanding the BT's footprint while also getting as many tv sets as possible.
What does everyone else think?

I don't give a shit who we get, I just want the world to align into 4 super conferences with what would effectively become an 8 team playoff where each conference champion would then play in a final 4 with the first round on god damned NYD (when all the fucking big bowls should be anyway) and the championship a week fucking later. That's it. I don't give a flying fuck who we get, but Texas would be nice.
Even at that, you add a few teams to the existing BCS, give Utah, Boise, TCU and some other bitchass school a seat at the table in whatever degenerate fucking conference takes Iowa State. The 4th conference that would be the scraps is gonna be pretty god damned weak, but when they get bitch slapped every year in the bowls, it'll work out just fine.

I'm not all that excited at the thought of Tex-ass being in the BT. Mostly because they would only come to the BT if they could get a deal like they have with the Big12. In other words, they would expect the other teams in the conference to suck their dick and beg for more.
No thanks.
Notre Dame I don't want either. If for no other reason than to see them stay independent, and get shut out of the new BCS arrangement forever. That would be sweet.

I think Notre Dame is the only logical choice and would cause little/no damage to the rest of the conferences. Plus who wouldn't want to see them finish .500 in the Big Ten every year. As for Texas asking for a bigger piece of the pie to join- that will never happen, the big ten is as strong as it is because all schools share the pie. The reason why the Big 12 is on the verge of being raided is the schools other then Texas are getting bent over when it comes to revenue sharing and some of them (Nebby and Tom Osborne) don't really like taking it up the pooper and are looking to get out of a bad relationship.

Yep, Texas is pissed off because little schools like Indiana, Iowa and Northwestern are making more bank than they are due to the BTN and our sick ABC/ESPN deal.

The socialist Big Ten isn't going to entertain any crony-capitalist bullshit from Tejass.
It sounds like Nebraska cannot wait to jump into the Big11 Politburo. Well...they are the Big Red after all.
Onward, comrades.

Take this for what it's worth and the other 10 million reports out there: WFNI out of Indy is reporting Notre Dame, Nebraska, Maryland, Rutgers and Syracuse to the Big Ten.

Maryland? Not so sure about that one. I'd much rather see Maryland, Rutgers and Syracuse taken out and replace them with Pitt, Mizzou and some other team (not ISU).

This is actually something that was mentioned 6-7 weeks ago. Might be true, but it might be some media hack regurgitating a rumor.

Why all the hate for Rutgers? No hate from me. Rutgers makes a ton of sense. I am now hearing that Misery will be left with Big Ten blue balls and not be invited. Kansas might be invited instead of them. Rutgers is a lock. Maryland a strong possibility. I still think the BT will consider Vandy or Georgia Tech if Notre Dame says no.... although I don't think ND is that dumb. I don't claim any inside source, just going by what I am hearing and the number of times and from what sources. Take it for what it's worth.

With CO just joining the Pac 10, I think the B12 is safe for now. No way the TX legislature lets TX leave without taking all the kids along and no way OK goes anywhere without OSU. Only scenario now is OK/OSU to SEC, TX and little sisters to Pac 10, but that would be a huge stretch. TX wants to be the big kid on the block. B12 will pick up a TCU/Houston or BYU or something to pick up for CO and NE.

Notre Dame is dumb, Gumby. Also, they are too damn arrogant to join the Big Ten. They will be regretting turning this down in about 5 to 7 years.

Notre Dame is dumb, Gumby. Also, they are too damn arrogant to join the Big Ten. They will be regretting turning this down in about 5 to 7 years. True. And I can see why they wouldn't join the Big Ten. Shit, they play a BT schedule now anyway. Plus, they get to play the Boy Scouts, Coast Guard, and other service schools. They have the best of both worlds. The only thing that would bring them on board is the fear of them not having a BCS shot. I really, really, really hope they don't join just because the inevitable crying about being left at the BCS altar would be priceless.

I hate ND just as much as the next guy but if Texas, Okie and their little brothers do go to the Pac-10 if the Big-10 doesn't get ND then it's a huge swing and a miss. As good of an addition as Nebby is they aren't Texas or Notre Dame. The Big Ten needs a home run school, Nebby is nothing more then a stand up double. Yes, I am well aware that ND football hasn't been that great lately but we aren't talking W/L's here, it's $$. ND adds a ton of value to the conference with their alumni and what they bring to the table when it's time for TV negotiations. Plus I think if the Big 10 expands without ND I could see MSU, Purdue, and Michigan telling ND they are done scheduling them and last time I checked the Marines and the Coast Guard don't have a football team.

Eh, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. College football is far and away my favorite sport, so I always get a bit defensive when they try to "tweak" it.

If it's just Nebraska, I actually kind of like it. Their style of play should match well with the Big Ten...and I know Iowa fans have been chopping at this bit to play the Huskers. I'm sure it's going to turn into a huge rivalry game.
