in terms of intelligence. I put up a clearly fucking gag thread offering to trade 4 tix to ISU and 4 tix to OSU for a fucking hat in response to Game Day Ron's shenanigans and I got FUCKING 5 PMs from people looking to trade me shit for the tickets. Look fucking proles, it was a god damn joke, I ain't trading a fucking Pizza Hut mini basketball signed by Jeff Moe for fucking tickets.

And they all got there panties in a bunch over an abortion comment. In what world is an abortion joke considered tactless? Clearly not one I want to be a part of.

Man, the way some of those dudes care about these football players is simply fucked up. I love the Hawks and all but holy shit, talk about living vicariously through the lives of 18 to 22 year old young men. Fucking pathetic.
Also, since when is twitter twatting the most reliable source of news? Fucking twats and their twitter accounts.

I have not been on that site for a couple of weeks now. There are the cool posters (basically Wastelanders) and then there are the morons and keyboard commandos. I have better places to waste time.
The wrestling forum is pretty active once the season gets going and I will probably frequent that part, but otherwise...........

Sorry Dug and I don't know if you are talking about me but posting a rumor about how many abortions a guy and his girlfriend have had has little to do with Iowa football and was far from a joke but maybe that is just me.

Very first comment regarding an abortion read something like "you know if the girlfriend is pregnant there are other options". That, to me, was a clearly facetious comment. That said, most people are idiots and don't get it.
Now, stating that they have already had a couple of abortions is another matter.

Looks like Jan had enough of the Wheger talk and is throwing down the banhammer on anyone who starts a Wheger-related thread. You've go to love the entertainment provided there. Hoffa, I hope you meet that billdozer guy someday. I get the feeling it wouldn't take long before you guys would throw down in fisticuffs.

I can't believe how many times BTR is able to bait some of those folks. Pretty fucking hilarious, really.
I only use the off topic forum of HN. I still go to HI for my sports news.

In a perfect world that would be great but more then likely I wouldn't do anything other then tell him what an idiot he is. And Dug the joke didn't bother me it was the last part of your post that really pissed me off.

You're missing a bunch of dumbasses who think Iowa is going to be the national fucking champion in football. A year ago, when our boys weren't ranked, I said the rankings were fucking meaningless. They are still meaningless. Look at the year KU went to the Orange Bowl or the years we went, that shit just comes out of nowhere. Hawks are gonna be a slightly above average team this year, but the fucking dipshits over there are sure we're going twelve and fucking oh.

BTR, I have to agree and those same idiots will be the first to jump of the ledge and say somebody needs to be fired when we lose our first game of the year. It really cracks me up that some fans are too stupid to realize how truly unreal the run that KF has put together since he's been here and outside of Rose Bowl appearances what he is doing with this program is nothing short of amazing.

Disclaimer: This post isn’t directed at any one person. More of just a conversational piece. Fans are like people (because they are people). Therefore, they come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. Sure, from my perspective, I find the fans that get all worked up to be entertaining. If we happen to be preseason ranked in the top 10 (like we are this year), then they think we are going to win the national championship and destroy every team we play. They work themselves into a frenzy by the time the season starts. Once we lose a game, then all of that positive energy transfers into negative energy and the blame game starts. Someone needs benched, someone needs fired, etc. But, I also find it funny, when the supposed “true/die hard/real/sophisticated/educated/informed/in touch” fans think of themselves as being “better” fans then the crazy/emotional/irrational ones. Some people think that because they stay on top of recruitment news, practice news, day to day news (outside of game time), that they are somehow a more sophisticated fan and more “deserving” of the fan label. To me, it can get to the point where they remind me of the south park episode where they are all smelling their own farts. I guess my point, if there is one, is that there isn’t any “right” way to be a fan. It’s just one person’s perception versus another’s. Some people may think that the crazy, emotionally driven, up and down fans are idiots. Some people may think that a person who spends that much time researching, studying, analyzing, and discussing the team, are essentially attempting to live vicariously through the team. To me, there is no difference between those people and the people who nerd out on WOW for 12 hours a day. Yet society judges those people as nerdy losers, while the guys spending all of their free time obsessing about a sports team are “normal”. I don’t really try to judge anyone, although sometimes that is a hard thing to avoid. To me, football is just a game, albeit a sweet fucking game. There aren’t many things better then getting together with your friends, getting sloppy drunk, and yelling at the TV for 3 hours. But at the same time, this shit is just entertainment. I think people forget that shit sometimes. End of rant.

It's really kind of sad and funny that when Iowa does lose it's like the end of the world, he let's it ruin his entire weekend and sometimes even longer. He's the guy that comes back to our tailgate and will just sit there and not say a word to anybody, and act like his dog just died. Then after about 15 minutes of that he will go on long rants on why this happened and what we should have done here or there. I also don't get the guys that know every recruiting offer we have out to HS kids and the names of the guys that are "must gets" but hell that's coming from a guy that would play PS3 all day long if I could. ;D But your right fans come in every shape, size, mind set and yes some are far more entertaining then others.

In regards to those that go to extremes vs. myself that is of a constant even keel. I don't consider myself a "better" fan as that is completely subjective. I don't judge them at all. I only judge myself, and I judge myself as a better person, relative to 'them'.

Holy shit, are they ever dumber than a sack of shit on that board!
Example: what is a "prole"? What did you mean about "lot lizard services"? "Did you know about Prole, Iowa"? etc.
How can they even figure out how to access HN.com?
