herniated/bulging/ruptured all the same. That's completely condtradictory to what I've been told from 3 physical therapists. Also from WebMD: "The bones (vertebrae) that form the spine in your back are cushioned by round, flat discs. When these discs are healthy, they act as shock absorbers for the spine and keep the spine flexible. If they become damaged, they may bulge abnormally or break open (rupture), in what is called a herniated or slipped disc. The jellylike material (nucleus) inside the disc may be forced out through the tears or cracks in the capsule, which causes the disc to bulge, break open (rupture), or break into fragments." From that statement it would seem that a herniated disc can mean bulged or ruptured, but they are not the same thing. The PT's said that the exercises they chose depend on whether it's bulged or ruptured. I'm confused, are you intentionally contradicting yourself? What you have quoted states that they are all the same thing. I can't think of any different exercises they would prescribe for bulging v herniated v ruptured. I will ask next time I go in for observation.

I thought it was pretty clear that it states the difference, no matter how similiar they are. It states that a bulge is just that; the disc bulges out of place. A rupture means that the it has actually broken open.
As for different exercises used...not too sure. Since I couldn't tell them whether it was ruptured or bulged, they didn't get into it.

I achieved a rare fat guy milestone today. I donate plasma, and I had to get nurses approval and a waiver to donate. The "problem" was that I have a below average resting heart rate. It seems that I have "athlete's heart". So evidently I have an above average cardiovascular system, yet according to my BMI I am obese, thought I doubt anyone would consider me obese from just a visual inspection.

The BMI is the biggest piece of shit measuring tool the insurance companies and medical "professionals" use. It is an insurance company ploy. Period. There is NO accounting for someone with muscle mass beyond that of a 12-year old Asian boy.
