It is just dumb kids. The reason they went after her is because the girl who got beat down bad mouthed the other girls on her myspace page.
I did some high school subbing for a friend recently, and I can tell you, without a doubt, the kids have not changed! Kids have been beating the shit out of each other for decades. The only thing that makes this different from 20 years ago is the technology.
20 years ago some girl would have wrote a bad note about a girl, and then got jumped. These kids just had the means (and lack of intelligence) to film it. Not too hard when every kid in high school has a video camera in their pocket. I bet this happens all the time.

The suspects were identified as 17-year-old Mercades Nichols, 17-year-old Brittini Hardcastle, 14-year-old April Cooper, 16-year-old Cara Murphy, 17-year-old Britney Mayes and 15-year-old Kayla Hassell.
