From the same graveyard thread- LOLZ on so many levels. 1. Walden didn't get a fair shot? He coached there for 8 fucking years. 2. Minny is a bigger graveyard? Aside from having an actual history in football that includes multiple national championships, conference championships, and a heisman winner oh and being relevant (to some extent) in their conference in the last 20 years not to mention Minneapolis vs. Ames. 3. Decent funds? You are aware that Pollard financed a large portion of the SEZ correct? ?? 4. Had a huge hole to climb out of? I think you me have. 5. Bringing up Hayden Fry? A guy that hasn't coached at Iowa since 1998? That's the topper of this fucking moron's post. Remember. These are the same twizzler dicks that said no ISU fan should feel bad for Jim Z dying because he was a part of the media that was hell bent and determined to hold ISU back...

What's funny is that the Iowa media desperately tried to pump up Whoades as a great coach bince Kurt basically iced them out for a decade. The clowns bought it hook, line, sinker, rod, and fisherman's arm. The result of that is now ISU didn't fire Whoades when they should have, and is basically cratered their program for 5 years. It's nearly as bad as what Lick did to Iowa basketball.
The Central Iowa media also likes to try and push Pollard off as a genius too, but I think the curtain has been pulled back on that con too.

Whoa, let's keep things in perspective. ISU is a program that has had a winning record 9 times bince 1980, and most of those winning years were one game over .500. They have one 9 win year and five 7 win years (all of which were by McCarney with the exception of Rhoads' first year where he managed to beat Minnesota 14-13 in a bowl game to get win #7 with existing players). I honestly have no clue what they can do to get better. I guess they could try to follow KSU and go with just juco guys and otherwise cut academics down to Boise State levels, but beating Iowa in one recruiting battle per year and otherwise relying on 5th tier Texas recruits who don't want to go to Tech or Houston prolly ain't gonna get it done. When you think of the biggest wins in Iowa history it is something storied about the game or season, e.g., '85 Michigan, OSU after the shooting, '09 MSU, '02 Minnesota, etc. Those were all about something big in the program. ISU's biggest wins are all about beating Iowa, getting lucky like twice and having Nebraska beat themselves and keeping Okie State out of the title game. None of their "storied" wins are about themselves, they're all about making someone else butthurt. It's truly one of the most pathetic football programs ever.

And the whole Iowa media hates us thing is comical. Yeah, because the dying profession of sports journalism wouldn't love to have another interesting story to write about in the state. Because you know they never wrote any stories about Fred.

Because you know they never wrote any stories about Fred. The people you need to convince to go to Ames to turn around I-S-Moo aren't kids who read the faux Big Peach. It's kids in Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Michigan, etc. who you might be able to land if they aren't good enough for OSU or scUM. Thus, what the local media says is pretty much irrelevant noise. Iowa, Wisconsin and MSU have all taken turns in the past decade at various levels of the top 25 with Michigan and Ohio State rejects. I think the bigger problem is convincing those kids to play in the shitty Big 12, though, and finding the ones who are above MAC level talent.

I had a thought while watching the game. Iowa should put Danny Mac in their sports HOF. He starred at city high, played three years for Iowa, and coached for 13. He followed that up by taking two complete shit bag programs to bowl games. Can you imagine the Butthurt that wood flow from Ames ifn we did that?

Loloooloololol. How can he pull hard be expected to pay for hotel rooms when he's paying down debt from the awesome sez and recovering from a gripper? The ISU athletic department has enjoyed immense financial and physical growth during Pollard’s 10-year tenure. ISU has invested $160 million in facility upgrades, including the Sukup Basketball Complex. The athletic department’s budget has grown from under $30 million in Pollard’s first year to $62 million last year.LOLOLOLOL! Jimmy didn't have anything to do with the budget exploding. It's the fact that TV contracts have exploded over the past decade, that everyone has the money now. ISU is still ranked 48th in revenue (Public Schools) and last in the Big XII.
