cyclonefanatic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188839This one is good too. They are discussing regent Rastetter's comments on how Iowa is not very welcoming to in state prospective students. I especially love this one... "Dwindling fanbase, dwindling university. In the next 30 years as the DSM metro continues to expand and grow and eventually DSM and Ames become "combined" with a population greater than the next 5 biggest metro areas in the state combined both EIU and NIU are going to suffer. The only thing Iowa City is going to combine with is the World's Largest Truck Stop." Jesus H. Christ. Unfortunately, I can't access the thread. Evanston and Chicago are, I guess you could say, combined (of course, there aren't heavy hitter towns liek Polk City, Slater and Huxley separating them, as they are adjacent). But there's this strange phenomenon that happens with BCS level programs that suck. They don't have many fans. Illinois fans outnumber Northwestern fans in Chicagoland (and Illinois sucks, but not ISU level of suckitude). Hell, Iowa fans prolly do, too. Notre Dame fans definitely do. Wisconsin, Sparty and Michigan, too. Iowa State's only hope is to become truly open admissions while Iowa tries to bilk money out of the Chicago suburbs in the form of hefty out of state tuition to subsidize the school. Of course Iowa doesn't want too many in state students, they want to save seats for out of state and exchange students because those fuckers pay 2x tuition.

So Iowa is moar selective in admissions and actually says no to some kids? Must mean they're shrinking and dying. I mean, who else but a desperate school would start limiting the numbers of students who can attend?

JFC...teh stoopid...IT BURNS!!! UI slowly becoming a niche university and ISU is becoming the flagship. Was just looking at some destination colleges for a high school in south-central Iowa. 4:1 were attending ISU compared to U of I.
Look at who wears the majority of hawk gear - old folks nearing death and trailer-trash. Look who wears the ISU gear - younger folks with kids.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188858&page=5Again, they have liek 2 years where they have 1,000 more total students, and they start thinking like this. Apparently, having the biggest school means you're the most important school. Just like how NC State is the flagship of NC because they have the biggest school, they're located in a bigger city, and they have easier admissions. I also liek calling UI a niche school. Iowa is literally a superior school in every way except for engineering, ag science, and Veterinary. Define fucking niche for me dipshit. I guess Law, Medicine, Liberal Arts, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Education are niches. Plus, no one in those fields make any money, so good luck growing in the future hoktards. Also, I have never met a clown fan farmer around here.

I doubt if there is a single HS south of Des Moines on the I-35 corridor that is graduating more than 50 seniors this year. Of the (optimistically) half who go to college, how many do you think will come back? OK, maybe half of them settle for some shit job in teh Dez, so what, you're looking at what, 10 lifelong ISU fans, tops?

I had an ISU coworker spout off at me lately because there were moar people at the ISU Tailgate Tour than there were at the I-Club stop in Des Moines. Of course the idiot failed to realize that almost half of the attendance of the ISU stop were children and the ISU stop is free admission where the I-Club event charges $15 which included a catered dinner. I asked him how many would show up and bring their kids to the ISU gangbang at $15 a pop. He failed to answer me. Ask the stupid fuck how many other ISU club events they have throughout the state. The bus trip is the premier event for the Cyclone Club. How many did it say in the article the other day that Fran alone has attended so far. The Webster County I-Club event with only one of the major coaches appearing probably brings in 4-500 people every year. They used to have a Tri-County event for ISU with Webster and two other counties, that ended probably five years ago from lack of attendance. #ISUNITWITS

(Miami Ohio if you forgot) But, but, but if Whoads had the same easy peasy schedule that Danny Mac was able to enjoy the Clowns would have been 10-2 last year. I think however my favorite Cyclone statement of fact is that Fatty Mangino is the best coach in the world so he is automatically going to make their shitty team into a Big 12 contender. He had one great year at Kansas and the rest shit but he is some Offensive master mind that is going to turn chicken shit into chicken salad. Of course they forget they might be looking at the worst defense in the Whoades era. They will be lucky to win 3 games next year.

Maybe they could have beat Colorado, but that would be in place of their pathetic win against the Mountainqueers.

Yep, KU had one decent year and in that year, they were blessed to not have to play Oklahoma, Texas or Tech (#3 team in south that year behind NFL studs Danny Amendola and Michael Crabtree). It was before OSU turned into a stout program and it was when Nebraska was utter shit. The only good team in the Norf that year was Mizzou and Mizzou beat KU, then propeled to numero uno and proceeded to shit the fucking bed in the B12 title game against OU. I want to hate Mizzou, I really do, but the similarities between that program and Iowa are sofaking numerous that it is liek bashing mahself if I bash Mizzou. But back to Mangino, he brought back liek his whole fucking team the next year but the schedule flipped and he got shitrolled by OU, Texas and Tech and then the wheels really fell off that shit. Mangino is a fucking fraud on par with Ron Zook, except he's not as good of a recruiter.

Correct. I remember liek it was yesterday. We had a summer associate in 2008 who was a big KU fan and I was 'splaining to him why KU was not a top 10 team liek he claimed it was. History proved me correct. Oklahoma, TT, and Texas got into liek a 3 way circle jerk about who got to go to the Big 12 title game 'cuz they all had one loss in conference that came from beating up on each other, but they all showed how big of a fucking pretender KU was. Mangino's miracle season was the culmination of him having a team that was about on par with last year's Hox team, maybe a little worse, coupled with a shitty Big Twelve North (save for Mizzou) coupled with an utter cupcake schedule from the South. Look, that shit happens and if the coach don't repeat it, he ain't fucking good, he just lucked into something. So all these fucks who think Mangina is gonna do anything for ISU are idiots.
