I like the Stillers. They unfortunately have a very hard schedule that includes the NFC East and AFC South, along with games against New England and San Diego.
They will likely win 5 or 6 games in 2008.

I thought you were a Giants fan as of earlier this year (right after you stopped being a Pats fan)? Is your Steeler fanhood left over from 2006?

The Bears are basically the Illini. I pull for them, but they ain't my team. Notwithstanding what the liberal media tries to say, the Stillers are a carbon copy of the Hawks.

The Bears are basically the Illini Fighting words.... Also, there is that slight chance that good coaching may win a game for the Bears...

As an Eagles fan, I was pretty pleased with how the schedule shook out.
As a Arizona Cardinals season ticket holder, I was pretty happy with the home schedule (NFC West, Minnesota, NY Giants, Dallas, Buffalo and Miami).

Dude, according to the Illini office of misinformation, Halas was allegedly an Illini alum and made the teams colors orange and blue after his alma mater. I'm pretty sure it's a lie, but I don't want to take the chance that it is true. If it is true and I were to become a rabid bears fan, it would be tantamount to being an Illini fan, which is only four rungs higher on the scale of lifeforms than the sludge that runs down the Chicago River (Illinois fans are less annoying than Minnesota, Nebraska, ISMoo and MSMoo fans).
However, Rooney's endorsement of Barry Obama has me rethinking my position as a Steelers fan. I might throw away my Rod Woodson jersey. It's a little tight on the belly and Ma says it ain't fresh.

The schedule just validates my confidence that the Lions will win it all this year.

George Halas was indeed a distinguished alumnus of the beloved. I will take your disbelief of this fact (or the fact that the colors chosen for the Decatur Staleys were based on the good-ole orange and blue) and file it with other facts you refuse to acknowledge, like the left-wing rantings of well-known neo-marxist Nile "I think people should come before profits" Kinnick or the thuggery displayed by the fans of the University of Iowa towards the Illini players. Fact of the matter is, if you don't like the Illini you shouldn't like the Bears, since the Illini have their fingerprints all over the Staleys/Bears, including Hall-of-Famers Halas, Red Grange (the consensus greatest college football player of all-time and the best red-headed athlete in any sport period), Butkus and current offensive coordinator Ron Turner. If you don't like the Illini, you should just go root for some team founded by an Iowa grad. How are the Barnstormers looking this year, anyway?

First of all, I'd like to dispell the fallacy of a liberal media. The media is controlled by a bunch of elitist, rich, right-wing fat cats who control the stream of information available to the citizens of this great country. Nile Kinnick has the right idea and Barack Obama would make an excellent leader of this nation. While I know this is an Iowa message board probably full of people whose lives have been made better by the great leader George W. Bush, I think it would be nice to have a government that is not rampant with cronyism and corruption. Just because all of you rich snobs look down your nose at a guy like me who manages a Pizza Hut Express/Taco Bell, I work really hard and deserve to get ahead. Maybe if some of these huge corporations like Wal-Mart and Citibank actually paid taxes, we could have universal healthcare. But no, they choose to sell religion and guns to ignorant backwards folks to keep a stranglehold over the government and keep the average American down. Shame on you, all of you.

BTR,
45 minute flight. Fly down Sunday morning, land at 9:00, rent a car at the airport, park at the stadium, watch the early games at a sports bar right by the stadium, go to the game and fly back Sunday after the game. We're back in Vegas by 8:00.
We usually hit two or three games a year and sell the others.

It amazes me how a sports thread can turn into a political thread so easily.

It amazes me how a sports thread can turn into a political thread so easily. I haven't read this thread except for your post, but I can say with almost certainty that any political talk began with BTR calling something liberal. I tell you, nothing beats a skipping record!

Not real pleased with the chiefs. No good non division home opponents, and 4 games conflicting with iowa home game weekends. Tough decisions will have to be made for this season ticket holder.

Bears (they're just the Illini, pro-version) schedule blows. only NFL team to be on the road for the opening two games AND later play 3 straight road games. 5 home games in November & December when they are out of playoff contention and drunken sodomy will be the only event at Soldier Field during those home games.

That's right Brother jwiley! E-A-G-L-E-S!!! A return to the top is fully expected but the schedule is not going to be easy. Have to win at home, this year there will be some tougher games at home than last year (e.g. Cleveland). I am hoping to make the Seattle game on Nov. 2 and will do my best to pee on their 12th Man flag. As an A&M alum, I'm really sick of hearing about 12th men. Seattle should have a large bonfire too and then they can celebrate the 56th man after the damn thing crumbles on some skulls. WHOOP!, I mean Whoops!

The Broncos are the team I cheer for. Haven't looked at their schedule but am anxious to see the continued growth of Jay Cutler. They picked up another washed up wide receiver for him to throw to. Denver must get stronger on defense in the upcoming draft. I will never worry about their offensive scheme as long as Shanahan is calling the plays.
I wonder if they can get Kevin Kasper back on the squad??? Maybe Ed Hinkel will give up coaching Regina to play WR for Denver.......is Basmir Yamini still available???

Guy Rucker,
Hit em low, hit em high, and we'll watch those Eagles fly!!!
Eagles have the best fight song of any NFL team hands-down. I'm hoping that the Birds send Lito Sheppard and a third round pick to the Bengals for Chad Johnson. Philly is going nowhere with their current WR corps and McNabb has struggled ever since T.O. left. I was actually at a party last October with T.O. here in Vegas and came real close to sweeping his leg.
I might try to hit that Eagles-Seahawks game in November. If so, I will be decked out in my Ron Jaworski 1980 throwback jersey.

Fuuuck the Illini. They ain't got shit on the Bears. Shenanigans. UI has a convicted felon on its basketball team. The Bears have a guy paying child support to 2 different women and who now suddenly needs a new and improved contract. convicted felons>>>>those who don't wear a rubber.

Illini: Dude got drunk, wrecks his car, and thought he killed a teammate. Hid from the cops. Bears. Dude got krunked, wrecks his Lamborghini, walks away from the crash.
