Ghosto - a state legislator makes like $20k or some shit. You have to either have a farm or law practice on the side to pay you while you take that shit salary. That's why they get such colossal fucksticks as long-term legislators, you're gonna get shit people for that level of pay. There's only maybe a dozen lawyers serving in the Iowa legislature right now. I may be overstating the number. Remember, folks, this is the place where they make law. Yeah, hey, uh don't sweat it, brah. Back in LS, I remember that the legislature was peddling a job of legislative draftsman for a cool $42k per year so I'm sure they landed some top tier legal mind to monkeyfuck the language and make sure it's tight and shit. Hmm, now that I think about the quality of the guys who went to shitbag firms in Iowa making $60k and think about how the government would have to dig much deeper into the class than those guys for "talent," ahh, fuck it, I don't live there, I ain't gonna think about it.

JFC, maybe I need to change my mind. The legislature just lubed up and fucked UofI in the ass hard. Rep. Walt Rogers, R-Cedar Falls, introduced an amendment that implements the Regents' plan to move to a performance-based funding model.
However, it does not include funding the Regents requested to offset some of the upfront costs for the University of Iowa.
That plan, approved by the Regents in June, would tie 60 percent of state funding to in-state enrollment numbers. The goal is to tie Iowa's tax dollars to Iowa students.
The structure would boost funding to Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa, but it would cost the University of Iowa millions.
That's why the Regents requested $12.9 million to "backfill" UI's budget so that it doesn't face severe budget cuts immediately as a result of the new funding model.
But the bill passed Monday does not include that $12.9 million. It essentially takes $12.9 million from the University of Iowa, Rogers said, and splits it between Iowa State and UNI.

Some of the mental midgets on the BOR seem to have it in for teh more cosmopolitan school in eastern Iowa in favor of the two ugly little sisters in Lames and Cedar Sucks. Teh Hokks need to gain control in the Statehouse and force some of these dooshes off the board.

So if I run, we have to agree...no one goes to the press claiming I have a history of saying borderline racist, sexist, homophobic, or violent things. Also, know one tries to bring up any baseless accusations of inappropriate contact with underage women. And last, and most important, no one publicly makes fun of my hands. In exchange for that, I will single-handedly save the U. Deal?

Any asshole can take the things I said out of context, when in fact it was exclusively used as an ironic reappropriation of social mores to highlight the absurdity of modern society in an effort to force the audience to examine their emotional reaction and examine new ideas through metacognition. I wouldn't expect a fat cat, out of state lawyer like you to understand, but I know the average Iowa voter does.

Your ability to credit the intellect of the average Iowa voter, which you and I both know is virtually non-existent, is going to pay huge dividends in the future.
