I never have, even if I'm sick, I go to work with the hope of spreading my ailment to others. My secretary, on the other hand, calls in sick once every four or five weeks and it is always "Cough cough, sniffle, cough, sniffle .. Umm BTR, it's your cough secretary, sniffle and I'm not feeling good cough cough sniffle so I won't be able to come to sniffle work today."
Today must be spring fever day because they can't even find a replacement since so many other secretaries have called in sick.

Once or twice a year, tops. I just don't really ever get that sick.

I never get sick but I do call in when the kids are sick since the Mrs doesn't have sick time to use.

Only when the wife is out of commission (and I have to watch the kids).
Other than that, we have a pretty lenient policy. If you need / want some time, take it.

I don't typically call in sick, however the wife and I will take turns taking off work to stay at home with a sick kid. I never even got sick until I had kids, little germ factories.

Before I quit drinking, I used to do it occasionally. Now I am my own boss, so I never call in. If I do not feel good, I roll over and tell my other boss and she goes to work.

Once or twice a year, tops. Usually I'm actually sick, but occasionally it's a mental health day. I pretty much set my own schedule (to a point) so if I need time off I take it, no reason to lie about it.

I can't remember ever calling in sick. Now being productive at work when I feel like shit that is another story.

2 or 3 times a year...tops. Probably more in the 1-2 times a year range. And 9 times out of 10 its legitimate, though I just don't get sick enough to call in very often. I've never called in with the "brown bottle flu" though.

At a prior job where we had actual "sick days" and it was "use 'em or lose 'em" I probably called in 4-5 times a year.
Nowadays, never. I just take a "paid time off" day.
Funny how that works!
At the prior job, I used to be a good little worker bee who never called in... until one day where I actually WAS sick as a dog. I was spotted at a restaurant later that night (eating soup) and was basically raked over the coals for it. After that, I called in whenever I felt the urge. That's what they get for brow-beating their employees.

A better discussion would be:
How often do you actually put in a full day of work?
If I didn't know my bosses surfed the SFW internets too, I'd be mildly worried. But I find the urgency brought about by ignoring the mundane for a while- makes it less mundane... and still able to be accomplished in a short time frame.

I only call in sick when I'm actually sick. Maybe 1 day a year and that would be a stretch. I pretty much set my own schedule so it works for me.

At my job we don't have a specified number of sick days. Basically whatever you need. Well sometimes on Monday morning I'm sick of work, so I'll call in. If they were to look back on my attendence record, they'd see that I'm almost always sick on Mondays.
I don't abuse it though. Maybe 5 or 6 times a year. I just send out an email to people who might want to know, so I don't actually have to feign the sickness. I don't remember the last time I was actually too sick to work. I think I was like 8 years old, and I didn't have a job then. (knock on wood)

If I were BTR's assistant, I would call in sick every week. That is until one day, I don't show up and do not call. This happens for another few days, when the neighbors smell something funny, because I am hanging from my neck in my fucking closet.
I caught the flu (the legitimite flu) twice this year and missed quite a bit. Luckily, I had pretty much nothing to do between Christmas and Groundghog day, so it didn't matter that much.

One nice thing about working for the corporate machine is that we do get lots of paid time off. We have a small department, and actually encourage people to stay home if they're sick...nothing like being the hated one that gets everyone sick.

There's a co-worker here who's been coughing since November. She's um, not my favorite.

Never have and probably never well. I usually have a fucking headache until lunch. Fucking sucks. Work is better than school. Id skip school before skipping work.
