For now, anyway... talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2008/05/californias_top_court_overturn.php"Today the California Supreme Court took a giant leap to ensure that everybody — not just in the state of California, but throughout the country — will have equal treatment under the law," said City Attorney Dennis Herrera, who argued the case for San Francisco.
The challenge for gay rights advocates, however, is not over...Well hopefully this will not be trumped by the voters in November, and hopefully the rest of the country (aside from NJ& VT) will pull their heads out of their asses and overturn these retarded (and illegal) laws.

The Supreme Court will eventually come around and realize that for many people it is an immutable trait and should be analyzed the same way as all other immutable traits -- e.g. something that warrants EQUAL protection under the 14th Amendment.

On a related note, I heard Barry Goldwater, Jr. on the radio this morning touting his new book "Solid Goldwater." There was a true conservative, not this radical bullshit the Republican party puts out today. His son was saying that Barry thought the whole debate about abortion, gay rights, etc., was none of the government's business. People should be able to do what they want without government interference. His son said that Barry would probably be considered "center-left" these days.
