Just signed the paperwork to get solar panels & a battery. Kind of excited I finally pulled the trigger. I'd love to do this on my home. The position of my house and roof rating is a 100 for Solar and would be ideal in every way for it. Only downside is that my wife doesn't want it and thinks that it's not worth it. I do plan on getting a EV in a few years once prices come down and there are more affordable fast ones out there.

Mrs didn't care too much, but when I showed her that instead of paying electric bill at all - we pay a few $ less to the financing until paid off... Plus we have electricity should another derecho hit. We will be getting EV's too when they spread beyond the premium vehicles. Not a bad tax credit this year (26%) and Iowa exempts sales tax. Talking to CPA tomorrow to see if worth starting a business just to take advantage of the Iowa tax credit - as the funds for personal systems has been drained.

Finally flipped on the solar at 3pm yesterday... late afternoon on a cloudy day, so didn't do much - only 6.5 kW.
Today is cloudy, but panels are rocking it so far with 25.4 kW as of noon... and meter going full speed back to the grid.
Unfortunately was 3 month process to get the engineering/bureaucracy/installation done during the prime sun time, but is a marathon. Is still nice to have free electricity & making an additional buck or two from selling excess back to the electric company.

A real fixer upper. I’d clear that lot including the house and pull up a double wide. It looks like that would be an improvement in the neighborhood.
