Welp. Got a speeding ticket in the mail going through Crapids a couple weeks ago. My first speeding ticket since 1979 when I was 16 and the cop got me for 30 in a 25 going down a hill.
This is the photo kind. Says I was going 67 in a 55. I slow down in these parts because of the cameras and I may have been doing 60 but 67? Find hard to believe. Are these things accurate?
The camera is on I380 on J Ave.

There are signs all over the place and the camera mechanisms are really easy to see. This is truly an idiot tax. It doesn't matter if the cameras are right, in every tax hungry leftist utopia the camera company has connections with the local politburo and a playbook they use if anyone challenges the accuracy of the cameras and it's almost impossible to win. They also usually make them a civil infraction assessed against the car owner as well so there is no actual traffic court or quasi criminal protections for the accused.
Traffic cameras are illegal in South Carolina and only a police officer who personally witnesses a traffic offense may issue a ticket with two exceptions - if you blow through a toll or if you pass a stopped school bus with the sign out.

They are illegal in Missouri as well as traffic stop light cameras too. And the thing is, it's usually a pain in the ass to fight them so most people just pay it to be done with it.

So a company (not in Iowa) has a picture of your license plate and they say you were speeding. Fuck ‘em, tell them to prove it. We’ll technically I think they did. At some point the computers on our cars are going to be sending the cops all of our data as we’re driving by special receivers and they’ll know that we’re speeding, our tires are under pressure, and the music is too loud.

If it saves just one life it will be worth it. Safety levels will really increase and I can't wait for it to happen.

Thanks for this heads up, I will make sure to save my dashcam footage as I drive through Crapids when I go to Iowa in June.

Frau Sioux has made two such contributions to the Crapids benevolent fund since the cameras have been active. I have yet to be caught.

They drive 60 going under cameras, and 85 in between to make up for lost time.
