So this is day 4 from the start of my symptoms. (Sunday night). Tested positive Tuesday. According to my employer I should be able to go back to work Saturday. Psyche! I’ve been working every day on my laptop. I think the stages of Covid for me so far are Day 1: shit. Is this all there is ? This ain’t so bad. Just a little cold. Some coughing Day 2: got damn I’m tired, my throat hurts. JFC my sinuses. A lot of Coughing Day 3: AM: sure my nose is runny but I can handle it. I don’t need antiviral therapy. PM: My body aches, I’m tired. My fucking nose. My ribs hurt from coughing. Maybe I should have the antivirals. Day 4: exhausted. My fucking sinuses hurt. watery eyes and nose. Lots less coughing
I am really worn out. I have lost most of my sense of taste and smell today but I think that’s from the congestion. I always lose it during colds. However yesterday I wasn’t as congested and the chicken I was cooking smelled burned. It wasn’t. I can taste sweet/ salty but no flavors. I’ve gone from Having chills to being really sweaty but my temp has never been high. Starting last night I have no appetite.
My husband got monoclonal antibodies the first day he tested. He’s been doing pretty well the last couple of days. My daughter tested positive yesterday. My son has still not turned positive and has no symptoms. I had three messages from Mayo and one from my employer offering me paxlovid saying I’m “high risk”. Maybe my age? 59? Everyone I’ve known that’s gotten paxlovid has gotten raging diarrhea and/or Covid rebound so that’s a nope.
Earlier in the week I thought I was foolish for selling my FB tickets so quickly as maybe I’d be better but definitely won’t be and that’s probably fine as I’m afraid to sit through that game and lose. The last time I missed a hawkeye game was 2015 when my daughter selected a fucking football Saturday to get married. And we know what happened that year…
The fatigue and congestion has been the worst today. Its hard to concentrate and work when you’re like that.
Hopefully the next few days are better.

Get well. Maybe you should weigh the paxlovid shits vs. your alternative.

The only side effect I had from paxlovid was a metallic taste in my mouth.

How is the monoclonal antibody supply these days? Everyone I know who took that stuff got better so I hope you can score some if you're having issues. Please don't let them talk you into Remsedivir or whatever the fuck it is called.
And you're super fucking pale. If it is sunny go park your ass outside in the afternoon sun for a few hours because you prolly have the same vitamin D issues everyone with super northern European genetics has and a few hours in the sun may make you feel a lot better.
God bless and I hope you feel better.

Just congestion. If I get up and move around it gets better. I’m not taking anything for it right now. I had taken pseudofed for a couple of days but I was getting rebound congestion when that wore off so I haven’t taken any in 24 hours. At the moment my eyes aren’t watery. While I’m not super tired as I was earlier in this process I have gotten winded a few times exerting myself. I did call mayo to ask about the treatments. I’m not eligible for monoclonal as they save that for the old folks and pregnant people. They said if I suddenly felt worse tomorrow to call and they could make exceptions. I could have symptoms for up to 14 days.
My husband is mostly symptom free as far as I can tell. My daughter seems like she only has congestion with occasional coughing

You might feel 100% tomorrow. Seems like you are in the final stages --- or you could be in terminal lucidity.

Went back to work Monday. Was pretty tired. Tuesday felt pretty normal. Today had a bad, bad, headache. Left work a couple hours early and went home to rest. Seems like a stress headache though. Pain was at the base of my head. My sense of smell and taste isn’t working. My 22 year old daughter was a couple days behind me in symptoms and has already gotten back to normal. Ahh…youth.

Keep getting better. That is the strangest thing about this virus that they will hopefully understand with after-the-fact analysis... what biologic differences caused such varying symptoms from people. Only thing I heard early through it was the difference in the initial exposure "dose" being a factor in how severe the symptoms were. So you were likely sitting next to the sick person for a while... and your daughter likely just passed by/chatted with you.

I agree it will be interesting to see how individual genetics played a role. However, We got it from my husband. I don’t know where he got it. He’s retired now and I know he’s gone places without his mask when he’s not with me. So by virtue of the fact that we sleep together in the same room, pretty sure I got a good dose. Speaking of sleeping together, when he first got it and I was still okay I thought I’d try to avoid and slept in our spare bedroom in my basement. Then I got sick anyway and just stayed there all week. Figured if we were both miserable in the same room, none of us would get sleep. Despite Covid I think I had some of the best sleep I’ve had, except for the couple times I let the cat in. My husband does not sleep well. He has a cpap that often gets moved off his face and you hear squeaking or air rushing. He changes pillows multiple times per night. He sits up to shake his tums bottle to get some antacid. He rummages in dresser drawers to look for who knows what. And he usually listens to various podcasts all night. He used to have set of earbuds and listened to it quietly. But when iPhone changed their charging set up, you can’t charge and plug in headphones at the same time. And he doesnt like the wireless buds. So I hear podcasts for hours until they stop. I hate listening to music or anything when I’m trying to sleep. I know we gave ol’ Earache a hard time about separate bedrooms but I think my grandparents had it right too. Seems like a good option. My first day back in there was Saturday. Everyday my husband wakes up and says “I didn’t sleep worth a shit” and I’m like “yeah, I know”.

We do a lot of various studies different coronaviruses and influenza and every one of them starts with a viral titer study. Basically you have to get the 'right' amount of virus into your animal model. Too little and they don't get sick (or not sick enough), too much and they don't survive.

My son started complaining of a sore throat last Friday and saying he had white spots on his tonsils and then by Saturday he came home with a voice lower than Barry White. Covid test Sunday was negative. My throat started feeling bad Sunday and during the night I kept waking up because it was so incredibly painful. I worked from home while generally feeling crappy with chills and nausea but no fever. I’ve sounded like Kathleen Turner all week. The worst of the sore throat is gone but by Monday I was coughing lie crazy as was my son. We both have asthma so we’re both struggling with coughing until you almost puke. I didn’t even cough this much with Covid. Two Covid tests and a strep test are negative so just some other shitty virus. I think I’m slowly improving but my son is not so he needs to go back to the doctor tomorrow. Apparently whatever this is is making the rounds Be careful out there!

There’s currently a big spike of RSV taking place in the Midwest so maybe it’s that plus it’s inducing tonsillitis? Sorry you’re having a shit time, hope you feel better soon.

Prescribed Mezciline for it, usually does the trick in a day or two. Gone for now. Thanks though, the Dr. did this maneuver in the office the first time I had it.

It took me three weeks to get over the last illness that started in late October and now I have another damn cold. Just an ordinary type cold but still walking around in the house with a tissue stuffed up your nostril isn’t fun. My phone doesn’t recognize me that way. Pretty sure my daughter and son in law gave it to us on thanksgiving.
Guys the flu is bad right now. Not too late to get vaccinated.
