I think Uncle Sugar is at the point now where it has good enough IT to pull it off. The IRS site where your account shit is located has made some progress and the data aggregation ain't rocket surgery. The guy is right that they know of major deductions, but there's a bunch of other shit that doesn't get reported and I don't want that shit reported to the IRS because then I have to give ever more companies with unknown data protection protocols my SSN.
I also don't like the idea of mailing that shit. It ain't secure.
Hell, I'd be happy if they just set up a portal with the data file and let you auto fill the fucking software even if you have to pay some amount for the software.

Regale us with your deep thoughts on the data aggregation across diverse platforms and formats. Are you suggesting Turd Bros. plumbing knows how to properly call a POST API with the correct format & protocols? Did both parties validate that your Zip+4 or the epoch metadata isn't your single transaction total? Or is your hesitancy solely focused on the worry that Turd Bros. has your SSN by design or accident?

Or is your hesitancy solely focused on the worry that Turd Bros. has your SSN by design or accident? Turd Bros likely would not provide a service that is a deductible expense in most cases and they wouldn't report on any income other than for their employees. The tax prep companies themselves have software that can aggregate the data from various banks and financial institutions, but once you get into smaller companies that shit breaks down quickly unless they are using a central service like Fiserv. The aggregation ain't rocket surgery, as it is just lifting various boxes from standardized forms, like 1099s or W-2s. Yes, there is some backend shit that would need to be done for formatting, but the tax prep companies have demonstrated the use case for this already with the big financial institutions.

Filed my taxes two weeks ago. For the first time since I was 14 I did not have to pay any federal or state income tax (was refunded all the money with held from my IRA checks). I am now officially a drain on society. Thank you all.
