Took a week for the ICPC to write anything on it... and it ends up being a "Let's recap anything we wrote related to the company over the past few years along with a vague statement from the CEO". If it wasn't sad I'd be laughing at how the transition is going. The contracted company is trying to get brain downloads from people, but when they do show up for the sessions - they have zero knowledge of the technologies we are using. They seriously have not heard of some AWS technologies and it had to be summarized to them. They are trying to cram 1+ years of knowledge transfer into <1 month to people that aren't aware of the tech stack. And they expect those people to understand the stack enough to manipulate systems and data enough to massage through common system issues? Ha. The beauty of the debt serfdom system that our country has created is that a company can fire someone, give them peanuts of severance for a release AND condition the severance on the terminated employees training their H1-B replacements. My ass would tell them to fuck right off and if I was destitute and had to stay the amount of subterfuge would make the forced labor camps the Germans ran in WWII look like Six Sigma certified operations. Can hold training sessions, but if those being trained cannot comprehend shit. Isn't our problem anymore. Those they retained are the ones I feel for the most. They are actively forced to be in the sessions with no horizon... and so don't have time to apply places.

The people who are staying better be ready to bounce as well. You getting nibbles? Man, again I'm sorry this is happening to you. It totally fucking sucks and I'm pulling for you.

They did a full contract. Those retained were the non H1 Lead Leads that could undig and reconstruct bodies if needed. They are at their wits end though. No interviews requested. Only headhunters right now. From what I've seen is most places take a few weeks to do anything. With the National Debt guillotine hanging above the economy, unsure if anything will happen until that is resolved.

The onshoring of third world labor to drive down costs is one of the most disgusting developments in this country over the past two decades. There are very high intellect jobs or jobs that require language skills that cannot be filled domestically. I get it. But there are a fuckton of companies that have had a totally fine operation operating domestically and then they rolled through and fired the back office functions like IT and accounting and they hire in a bunch of H1Bs and pay them shit. It's not within the intent of the H1B program. It was never intended as a labor arbitrage mechanism but it has become one. Just think about it. Someone had to sign a certification stating that a job that SoCal was doing perfectly fine just a month ago cannot be filled domestically. If we had a functioning Department of Justice the asshole who signed that certification would be indicted for signing a false statement on a government form.

A company can say "We are making changes to the process used to get things done" - and that can let them do pretty much anything they want. Without a smoking gun, who can really dispute what they say?

Without a smoking gun, who can really dispute what they say? I guaran-fucking-tee you that if Thunder and I had an unlimited warchest like the US Attorney's Office has we could build a perjury and RICO case against any company that does this shit. The predicate offense is either wire or mail fraud for transmitting a BS application in an attempt to gain money. The person signing gets charged with perjury. You use the predicate charge to bring a claim under RICO and assert the entire transaction outlined in the master services agreement is an attempt to suppress wages in the US. Bring in an economist to demonstrate this. The Feds would need to establish a trap on the front end. Monitor the methodology of the job postings, stuff the channel with real and fake resumes from Americans. I guarandamntee you these outsourcers ain't even cracking open a resume from an American college grad looking to code or whatever. It's a really fucking transparent operation but the DOJ is basically just in the business of protecting elite interests so there's no god damned way they'd actually do anything about it despite the untold damage it has caused to normal, everyday Americans. The H1B program should absolutely exist, but they need to dramatically reduce the cap and get rid of the lottery and grant visas strictly on a Dutch Auction based on salary. Yao Ming is gonna clear that hurdle. If the skillset is truly scarce the market will decide who gets the visas. They have got to protect Americans. It is fucking disgusting.

Updates... Have had 7 interviews with 5 different companies.
Just got an offer from the one I was hoping for!!!! Touches the government, so a deep background check contingency... but not worried - unless they include this place in the check. I'm sure I said something unsavory sometime.

As someone who has a personal visit from Homeland Security, I would say probably no. Do tell. It was the day of the Sandy Hook shooting. I was watching coverage on TV and some asshole project manager e-mailed me about scheduling on an elemntary school project. I meant to reply "watching Sandy Hook" and forgot the -ing on watching. Homeland thought it sounded threatening, I guess. I was barred from visiting the jobsite for awhile. Didn't break my heart. Figured I would be put on a no-fly list, but flew to Vegas couple of months later.

I’ve passed plenty of background checks for coaching, obviously. If some agency did a deep dive on my statements regarding the disposition of fascist fucking scum, there might be a problem.
Alternatively, I might be recruited for some kind of task.
Who can say.

Ok. Coming to vent a bit...
Still gathering all my info to submit for the security background check going back 15 years of work. Minor snag...
The company that laid me off in the post-bubble 2009. Was originally a startup in 2000 (SatisFusion) It was sold to another company (WaCA) Who was then acquired by Assurion... Who then took parts and sold off other parts to Suresource LLC (Where I was laid off and told Suresource would be my employee of record) Who then rebranded or were sold to Brandshop... Who were then rebranded as Blueacorn iCi and then acquired by Infosys (or Infosys acquired and then rebranded) So I'm trying to figure out how to get employment verification from a company that is the outsource point for my most recent employer that caused me to be unemployed.
Beginning to feel like Mark Watney...
