Wow, who would have thought that China openly and explicitly cornering sourcing of certain rare earth minerals over the past 20 years to create an economic chokepoint to stifle the West would have consequences in the future? I'm totally fucking shocked!

Orange Man tariffed the shit out of their steel and aluminum (which despite being xenophobic at the time is still in place) and he told Huawei to take their spy hardware elsewhere. This whole fucking thing goes back to Nixon kowtowing to Mao. Hell, if the Japanese didn't bitch out and could have held Manchuko this wouldn't be an issue.

It was pretty foreseeable that we would eventually face a dilemma like that and the Chinese were very transparent with their strategies to become sole source supplier for certain shit at least 20 years ago. I believe that we will see rampant deglobalization. I have a client that sells an obscure product used in manufacturing that said they can't keep inventory in Mexico because they've seen a 10x increase in business in the past 18 months down there. Everyone is trying to bring their supply chains back to at least North America. Globalism delivered a huge boon to Americans in terms of the basket of goods we could buy with our dollar, but it skullfucked towns from far flung and exotic locales like Fort Dodge all the way down to Cackalack. The pain that will be felt as that trend reverses is going to be absolutely immense and the Fed is going to have a bitch of a time figuring out how much of the CPI increases are from actual inflation versus how much of it is from that deglobalization trade. Hell, once I started working in law and saw the CCP IP license I knew shit was utterly fucked. And I truly hope that every American company that sent all their shit over there gets absolutely fucked.

The good thing is, however, is if we stay on this current right wing trajectory to go back in time to when America was “great”, women will be barefoot and pregnant and uneducated, guys will be too busy supporting all their kids with underaged females, and only the rich will be able to afford stuff that takes chips. Regular old gas stoves and the trans am is coming off the blocks…and of course in Iowa kids will be working at the meat packing plants.

Sorry to break it to you, but like half the kids are autistic now and aren't going to procreate. Women are outpacing men on going to college by damn near 60/40 at a lot of places now and we are building our own group of young men who are absolute shut ins just like the Japanese have been dealing with for decades. A lot of youngsters have made the calculation that the only way to win is to not play. But by all means keep blaming some other political ideology. It's exactly how the guys who left us with no choice when the Dems became Neocons want you to think. Once Bill Clinton won running on the Chamber of Commerce of playbook this country was fucking done.

FYI, the "leftists" aren't in charge in Iowa and haven't been for some time. Were ‘leftists’ ever in charge in Iowa? Was that when Iowa still had one of the best education programs in the country (as opposed to the fucking dumpster fire we have now)? The problem with Iowa's education system is that IQ has a large heritability component and parental effort component. Higher IQ kids then produce "better" schools, as measured in test scores, where people go to college, graduation rates, etc. A substantial percentage of people with IQs north of 100 bolted from the state starting in the '70's. The proverbial gene pool became a gene puddle. No amount of money thrown at schools can fix that underlying problem. You're a smart guy, let me explain how this works. Some wonk wants to get more money for schools so they produce a study "proving" how schools that spend more money get "better results." Big regression chart, dollars spent on one axis, standardized test scores or graduation rates on the other access. Wow, there it is, look at that, as spending goes up results get better. Ironclad proof. The problem, xir, is that it is only proving correlation, not causation. Every large urban area has self-segregated in terms of where the "good schools" are. So you have people stroking $30k property tax bills in Evanston, Oak Park, Westchester County, etc. Thing is, the dudes who can stroke $30k annual property tax bills are guys who are a standard deviation above the mean in IQ. Their kids are usually not far off that. So naturally the schools where they self-segregate to are markedly better than the schools in other parts of town, but disingenuous propagandists have convinced you that the biggest input is spending on schooling. It's farcical. Edited because the author is a self-unrealized low IQ person.

If youngsters get a better start in life via a robust private school indoctrination education, then they'll naturally start churning out more >100 IQs, not? I realize wokeness has skewed my view, and I'm mixing a "public $ for Public schools" argument with a "leads nation in education" one, but fer fucks sake, if you want your kid to attend a private school that's out of your price range or out of your district, then just work harder and make better lifestyle changes, right? Nothing is entitled to you, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and work more to afford stuff you want.
