Yeah they're gonna ditch their multibillion dollar cutting edge factories to relocate to some lawless cartel-controlled shithole with massive quality control issues. The Germans and Japs and Dagos would be foaming at the mouth watching that trainwreck.

Yeah they're gonna ditch their multibillion dollar cutting edge factories to relocate to some lawless cartel-controlled shithole with massive quality control issues. The Germans and Japs and Dagos would be foaming at the mouth watching that trainwreck. I have a client that provides a critical input in manufacturing processes. They've seen over a 1,000% increase in sales in Mexico in under 2 years and are in the process of starting their own operation there, which was unfathomable five years ago. The US may not need a border wall because Mexico may build one to keep labor in. Deglobalization is in full swing and Mexico is the Hail Mary that every US multinational is banking on to get away from China. The Big Three are toast because they can't even move to the South due to the legacy UAW contracts. The Japanese and Germans build virtually everything in the South now with the gleaming Georgetown, Kentucky Toyota plant providing the northernmost anchor (Honda and Subuaru have legacy plants in Indiana). The integrated supply chain that has been built across Bama, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Kentucky is remarkable and they have kept the UAW out of the entire chain. If the EV pipedream were ever to come to fruition, the Big 3 would absolutely collapse within 5 years. The legacy cost structure is too high and the number of employees needed to assemble an EV is very low because the motor is about 1/1000th as complicated as an engine and there is no transmission.
