a) Wall Street Greed, and b) Maverick
During tonight's town hall meeting? I think we'll hear greed attacked at least 7 times and reminded who is a Maverick at least 5 times.
Seriously, what the fuck is McCain doing trying to do railing against Wall Street greed? That "greed" has put trillions of dollars in the coffers of the government, has created hundreds of thousands of jobs and has made credit available to millions of students, homeowners and normal Americans who use credit cards as well as countless businesses large and small. It has also made capital raising possible for many of our nation's greatest enterprises.
McCain's problem is he brings absolutely nothing to the table for 2/3rds of the Republican base. The war hawks get a great guy for them, but the small government backers get stuck with a guy whose fiscal liberalism is probably going to be even worse than Dubya's and the religious right gets a guy who is less iron fisted than Dubya when it comes to abortion.
I was very opposed to McCain getting the nod in the first instance, but then I had an idea that Buraq was gonna have a helluva time getting elected due to his Islamo-Terrorist connections, but with McCain moving further and further to the left on fiscal issues, I highly doubt there is any way McCain can win this thing now.
Let's just hope that Buraq doesn't really follow through with his promises of raising taxes and imposing massive trade barriers.

Another pet-peeve of mine during the first debate, was when faced with questions about the war, he'd tell such a heart-warming story about a mother of a dead soldier who he promised something to...etc, etc. I think he did this two, maybe three times instead of answering the question. Just answer the fucking question...this should be your strong point!
...and I DID hear 'maverick' several times, too.

I heard enough "Maverick" from Palin to last me a lifetime.

[Origin: 1865–70, Americanism; after Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), Texas pioneer who left his calves unbranded]
—Synonyms 2. nonconformist, independent, loner.
I think people are looking for a leader who doesn't take a completely different view of things than they do. In looking at the definition above, a "Maverick" is someone who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates. I think that is exactly the opposite of what the masses are looking for.

Wow, McCain's plan for the Treasury to buy up mortgages and then allow people to renegotiate them is the most socialistic thing I've ever heard. Hey John, I've got some stocks that are underwater, please buy those back from me at the price I paid for them and I will then pay you what they are worth today.
And Barry doesn't realize that the Fed is the one who made the loan to AIG, not the Treasury. McCain's already dropped the g word.

Well, neither of these guys have a fucking clue what they'll do with Socialist Insecurity. The question on unfunded liabilities was pretty solid and is probably the single biggest issue facing the country over the next 30 years and these guys are both absolutely clueless.

Well, Barry just said healthcare is a right in a country as rich as the United States. Last time I checked, the bum who hangs out in the 7-11 in front of my building is richer than the United States, our government is around $10 trillion in debt, that bum at least has some coins in his cup.

Man, Mccain looks stiff as a board walking around. He would be better suited sitting behind a desk. It's pretty petty but it takes away from what he is saying as I focus on his lumbering around the stage.

Well, I didn't hear much "Maverick" tonight. It was replaced with "my friends". Must have said that about 20 times. How folksy.

I love my Tivo.... I must have replayed a couple of McCain fuckups a dozen times. My favorite was about 3/4 the way though when the camera is on Obama answering a question - and you see McCain enter the background from the left, and slowly wanders across the screen.
"My Friends" = What I'm about to say is full of shit.

Holy shit, I thought old man river was going to drop dead....wow, did he have a crushed pelvis, or was that his first wife; cause he looked like he's had a hip replaced or something.

I haven't put much into looking into 3rd party candidates yet, but I will be doing that this month. I can't vote for McCain/Palin because McCain is creepy and will die soon, which will then put the female version of Dubbyah in office. Not going to happen, even if I agree w/ some of their idea (very few). I can't vote Obama/Biden because Osama is a White Sox fan and Biden has so much plastic surgery his skin is going to eventually peel off. And the libertarian candidate sucks ass. So... yeah, that sucks again. Just like every election, no one to vote for.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need a socially liberal, fiscally conservative party. What we have now is a socially liberal, super ultra fiscally liberal party and a socially conservative, ultra fiscally liberal party.

It took me 4 months but I finally got my dad to admit mccain is a liberal in a conservatives suit. Even my brother more or less admitted it. If mccain was smart he would let Palin do most of the talking and he would just stand there, smile and wave to people. While palin comes off as not very knowledgable about the issues she does a much better job connecting to people. The "my friends" statement drives me nuts also.
