From a yahoo article:
Expressions of outrage across the political spectrum reached a new crescendo Monday when Sen. Charles Grassley suggested in an Iowa City radio interview that AIG executives should take a Japanese approach toward accepting responsibility for the collapse of the insurance giant by resigning or killing themselves.
"Obviously, maybe they ought to be removed," the Iowa Republican said. "But I would suggest the first thing that would make me feel a little bit better toward them if they'd follow the Japanese example and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say, I'm sorry, and then either do one of two things: resign or go commit suicide."

Maybe Mr. Grassley should set the example. He did accept about $30,000 from them over the last few years. Any other DC hack that received AIG funding should follow the good senator's lead as well. Financial crisis over.

Big update. Looks like Mr. Dodd wants to take out the executive compensation package restrictions that he put in. These guys are fucking clueless idiots.
"While the Senate was constructing the $787 billion stimulus last month, Dodd added an executive-compensation restriction to the bill. That amendment provides an “exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009” -- which exempts the very AIG bonuses Dodd and others are now seeking to tax.
The amendment made it into the final version of the bill, and is law."

Has anyone noticed how Cuomo and Dinallo in the NY State government are the two people who seem to be the only ones actually doing anything other than paying lip service to what's going on. Cuomo is subpoenaing mo-fos and talking about bringing fraudulent conveyance lawsuits and Dinallo has been all over CNBC and in the Journal railing about the municipal bond insurers and the ratings agencies. If Bawney Fwank and Chris Dodd could muster up one tenth the brain power that Cuomo and Dinallo have, I would be a lot more confident.
"Cuba used to have mansions and a relatively decent economy. They moved from the individual to the collective. Now they're driving '54 Chevys, maybe the last great car to come out of Detroit." - R. Santelli, February, 2009.

Grassley is becoming a populist? Put your money where you mouth is Chuck and return any campaign contributions from these jag-bags.
