I don't understand what it is about "if you can't afford something and your insurance doesn't cover it, tough shit" you don't understand. I fail to see how that is different from any other commodity. I'm at work right now (albeit not super productive) and I will probably die of a gripper in my office when I'm between 50 and 60 like many others in my profession do. All in, I give nearly half of my paycheck to the government. Yeah, it sucks for your hypothetical 90 year old who didn't save enough during his working life, but that's his problem, not mine. Medicare should be a safety net, not the only game in town that it has become.

Medicare should be a safety net, not the only game in town that it has become. I'm sorry about your impending gripper. I'm arguing that there are more issues than what you are stating. For example, current private health insurance (yea for insurance...whatever) charges everyone up front for insurance, and then reluctantly gives out money very sparingly when people have health care needs. Meanwhile, they make astounding profits. Furthermore, I have health insurance, as do most earners. I am very healthy, work out a lot, try to have some balance in my life, and don't smoke. I drink moderately. However, my premiums help pay for the douchenozzles who don't take care of themselves and need million dollar health care at age 45. How is that NOT redistribuition, in a very bad way? I get screwed twice. Once by the insurance company, and another by some fat douchenozzle pissing in my insurance company's risk pool. If we go completely private insurance for all things, or even direct pay, then I don't what people having it both ways. Just as you decry economic redistribution to the "poors" who you loathe, I don't want my health care dollars going to the sloths, who I loathe.

Nothing beats a loan I don't need, for money I don't want, with interest that will be billions of dollars high...

Nothing beats a loan I don't need, for money I don't want, with interest that will be billions of dollars high... Just do what the government doesn't want you to do and donate it to charity then write if off your taxes next year or you could just forward it to me and I can take care of it for you.
