I had a good response to a telemarketer the other day. A telemarketer called me and asked me if I would be interested in some quotes on my house and car from Allstate Insurance. It went a little something like this:
Telemarketer (TM): I am calling on behalf of Allstate Insurance and I was wondering if you would be interested in some quotes on your house and cars to see if we can be more competitive than your current insurance.
Me (ME): No Thanks.
TM: Allstate is a recognized industry leader and offers very affordable blah blah blah. Now can we get you that quote?
ME: No.
TM: Why not?
ME: Because of all the insurance companies I've dealt with, Allstate is consistently the most difficult. Further, I don't agree with your litigation models, from your bad faith evaluations of cases to your refusal to produce documents you've been compelled to produce in district court in Jackson County, MO. In particular, your company's actions have resulted in your counsel facing disbarment because you hung them out to dry, and Allstate continues to be sanctioned $10K per day for failure to produce documents in conjunction with that bad faith claim. Furthermore I work for ____ Insurance Company, so I get better rates than you could ever offer. I would sooner self insure than get coverage through Allstate. You work for a bad company.
TM: OK, thank you for your time.

Of course, that poor schlub who can't get a better job than telemarketing just checked you off his list, called the next number and repeated his script.
I hate telemarketing, but not the people who do it (unless completely obnoxious). I just hang up. The ones I really hate are the computerized calling programs.

I know a guy in my county that had allstate. He hit a deer on the way to work and they cancelled his policy because they felt he was a high risk. Like it's his fault there are deer crossing the goddamn highway every five minutes.
