Did everyone have a good one? I did my best to pretend I was Irish for a day... Started off with a Jameson at 7:15 AM. Then went to the Dark Horse Tavern in Westport in KC for "Power Hour". 15 bucks to get in the door, from 8-10, all you can drink Guiness and wells and all you can eat Lucky Charms and biscuits and gravy. "Don't be a dummy, coat your tummy." I'm ballparking I drank about 10 Guinesses in that two hour timeframe. We then went downtown to a friend's loft that has to be in the 200 to 300 thousand dollar range. They throw a big St. Patrick's day party every year...tons of booze, lots of food and a ton of fun. After that, we went by Harling's on Main Street where they had some bagpipers doing their thing. A good time had by all. I passed out around 2:30. Woke up at 7. Talked to the kindergarten teacher for a while, then went down to the GranFallon on the Plaza for two more Guinesses and a car bomb. Huzzah. And don't worry Ron, I'm not drinking for a VERY long time...I feel AWFUL today. MoHawk feels like:

WTF? You didn't have to work? MO's alias is that he's a DJ, but he's actually a science experiment gone terribly wrong.

WTF? You didn't have to work? Took the day off my man. It's become an annual tradition for me to go to KC for St. Paddy's Day and booze it up with my buddies there, thus taking a vacation day does not bother me.

We celebrate in Chicago every year on the closest Saturday to the 17th - tons of family (from both sides) and friends come in to the city from all over the country, and we all go on a huge Pub Crawl. Usually about 50+ of us. My parents, bro & sis, their fiancees, a ton of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, in-laws, etc. It's a fucking blast. Drinking, visiting, singing, tomfoolery, and lots of fun. T-shirts & everything. I think this is the ninth year we've done it? Maybe eighth. This year we started at my aunt & unlce's in Lakeview as we always do for bloody marys & food, then started crawling. We did Lakeview this year - Schoolyard, Lincoln Tap Room, Sidestreet, Fearon's, Millie's, and finished up at out official HQ: Cody's. Awesome.

Sounds like a hell of a time Buck. I've always wanted to do St. Patrick's day in Chicago...I'll have to do that one of these years.

My St. Patty's day got ruined by my job! Then, I was going to go out after I got off work at 11pm, but some douchenozzle called in, and I got mandated to stay until 3am for overtime. Oh, well, probably better to make money than spend it. I would have had to hurry to catch up with everyone else anyway.

My wife and her friends have a girls weekend in Chicago over St. Pat's every year. One day I'm going to get all my buddies to do the same, I've heard St. Pat's in Chicago is awesome.
I went to Shamrock's on W. 7th in St. Paul (on Saturday). Got there about 2. Got home about 1:30. That's about all I remember of it, I'm trying to collect pictures from various wives and girlfriends of the group so that I can reconstruct the day.

The problem with St. Pat's Day in Chicago is that it's like New Year's -- it's freaking amateur hour and the bars in my 'hood jack the shit out of prices and are crowded as all hell. I walked over to barber's place on Saturday nursing a hellish hangover from Friday night and there were about 8 million douchenozzles walking as slow as humanly possible. I don't know, I guess it's the Iowa in me, but I can think of better things to do than drink overpriced beers in bars that are dick to ass crowded.

It really wasn't bad in KC yesterday. It was raining here, and it was a Monday, so that probably helped out. I'm all about finding the cheap places to hang out, which sounds like there isn't a single one in all of Chicago.

I will agree with BTR's sentiment re douchnozzles and overcrowding. It really depends on what bars you hit though. Places like Schoolyard (or anywhere on Southport) are jam-packed with khaki/whitehat fratboy fucks and their dim bulb sorostitute leatherfaced hag girlfriends, but many/most of the smaller neighborhood pubs are great. More crowded than normal, sure, but in a way, that's part of the fun too (especially, I guess, when it's YOUR group making it crowded!).
Quite the opposite on NYE, however. That shit just pisses me off. Maybe it's because you have to have a coat. I dunno, but fuck NYE.
Bar prices here are always fucking outrageous. Whaddyagonnado?

Here's some dogpoop I walked past somewhere on School St. during our pub crawl. Hope no one stepped in it later. Although it would be kinda cool to see a perfect Adidas logo stamped in there.
