Ladies - same question, but replace dad with mom in the question.
I'm just curious if our country is moving forward or backward between generations.

Why would the ladies have to replace "Dad" with "Mom?"
Why would the guys be limited to Dad-only comparisons?

My parents had me by my age, possibly my brother too. I have no "little me" running around, so I am better off, even though I don't have a job right now.

How the "F" would we know??? Sure there are infrared universal remote controls & internets pr0n... "bush" maintenance is in a different league, but isn't the question based on totally arbitrary and relative things that we likely have no ideas about? Just sayin.....

This won't teach anyone sh*T about anything. The sample size is way too small and I can tell you now that almost everyone will say they are better off. I'm thinking maybe 95-100%.
I was maybe 2 when my dad was my age... so I doubt I can even answer the question truthfully. My dad worked in a packing house and made more money than that same packing house pays its employees today. Thanks to Reaganomics which made it so a man couldn't support his family by working in a factory. The wife had to get a job. No one wanted to work in a sh*thole factory when they could make the same money doing just about anything else. So then they let all the illegals come in and work those jobs. Oh thank you Reagan for making America what she is today... families of two working parents struggling to get by while their kids snort crank cheese in the basement.

I wanted to set the comparison up for parents, but space constraints in the title limited it to dad. Plus, bince most of the posters are guys, I thought dad was sufficient. Ladies have years of additional gender based regulation to account for as well.
I thought that an American ideal was that parents strive to see their kids do better than them. I don't think it's that hard to test the quality of life differences between parents and kids, especially if you talk to your parents or remember your family's situation growing up. I guess it's easier for the liberals to express their pessimism and to find fault in unscientific just for fun polls than to admit that they are doing better than those who came before them. Admitting that anything has ever gotten better than it ever was in the past does not comport with the carefully constructed pessimistic attitude that liberals have.

I don't know what you're looking for BTR, life has gotten easier mostly due to technological advances. Is it for the better? I dunno. Furthermore, what the hell does this have to do with liberals. You have an unhealthy obsession with liberals. You are starting to remind me of Everhawk.
Life, it's such a generalized thought. There are so many aspects of it. I can carry around 1000's of my favorite songs on a little thing the smaller than my thumb. I can look up anything my heart desires with my computer (porn included). When my dad was my age, they didn't even have Commodore 64s. There are 800 channels on TV now and they are all in highdef. When I was a little kid we had 10 channels. There have been major advancements in healthcare.
Really, what are you looking for in an answer... or is this just same way to bring up the word 'liberal' like most of your posts lately, Ever Jr.

Where, on the face of the question, is politics discussed? You were the one who interjected them, then I pointed out that those who have a problem with the survey are liberals who seem to be overly pessimistic. I was going to point out how no matter how badly we disagreed with the political landscape, the future is always brighter than we think because technology will improve and help the plight of mankind. Even if Barry or Hillary wins, I think my kids will be better off than I am.

Even if Barry or Hillary wins, I think my kids will be better off than I am. I seriously have my doubts about that being the angle you were going to take, but I'll take your word for it. Our lives (thank God) aren't dictated solely by the politicians decisions. But they can have an effect. Society will continue to advance despite the debt we have to start paying back from this war. I think we'll always try to better society, but the question is how much better could it be if say the Iraq war never happened. Would our highways have less potholes? Would we not fight as much on the internet? Would gas be cheaper? Would the dollar be more valuable? I dunno.
