So I watched No Country For Old Men last night and it set me to thinking of other movies with "interesting" (so as not to play spoiler in case there is somebody actually slower at seeing movies than myself) endings. What are some of the best, worst, weirdest or just "interesting" movie endings or even openings out there?

I would say I am legend was a weird one. I had heard he lives and is reunited with his family in the end. That didn't happen. I also didn't care for the ending in No Country For Old Men.

Who ended up with the money at the end of No Country For Old Men? There is a running debate here in the office. Any help?

Dr. Giggles had the most memorable ending of all time, followed closely by Gremlins II: The New Batch

Dr. Giggles was on last night. I'm a douche for knowing that.

There WAS no ending in 'No Country'!! That movie (and it's total cop-out "non-ending") still pisses me off. Extremely over-rated, IMO.

Disagree. I thought it was a brilliant movie. The ending left a lot of things open, but not all movies need "and they lived happily ever after", or closure for that matter.

I didn't need a "happily ever after" ending, but ANY fukking ending would have been nice. Face it. It was a "cop out" ending. They couldn't decide how to end it, so they didn't. Then, they will just chalk it up to being "artistic" and "imaginative". It is neither. It's lazy. Give me an ending... ANY ending! That's what I PAY the movie directors for... entertain me. Be creative. Don't charge $8.50 to have ME come up with a suitable ending. I am so glad that we saw this as a rental so that the Coens got next to nothing from our pockets.

I would say the moist visceral experience (no counting old yeller) I had at a movies ending, was Seven. As a quite young adult, that movie hit me hard. I felt dirty. The Swimmer was the next honorable mention, but of course I was stoned at the time. I laughed at the cheesiness the whole way through, then... For the all time (whole movie) experience I wish I had been old enough to see star wars in the the theater for the first time. Back to the point, Seven was like a grotesquely beautiful painting that you could not completely take in until the end. Download utorrent www.utorrent.com/ This is what we used to use to post and propagate Iowa games on the Hawkeyereport. - A completely clean and unobtrusive program. Download the swimmer (in better than DVD quality if you put it on a SD card and then stick it in your PS3) isohunt.com/download/36478217/The+Swimmer.torrentAfter you have utorrent, click the link above and click <open with utorrent> It will then begin to dowload at a crazy fast speed.

I didn't care for the ending of No Country... but the other 99% of the movie was just plain awesome. Why wouldn't you want to give the Coen brothers your money? They are the best filmmakers in Hollywood.
One of my favorite 'weird' movie endings was for the movie Memento. It really makes you rethink everything you just saw and how to piece it all together and make sense of it.
Some other favorite movies of mine are The Sting (Robert Redford,Paul Newman) and Diggstown (James Woods, Louis Gossett Jr). I love movies about the con game. They always have great twists at the end. These two are perfect examples of that.
Edit: Just thought of another good movie about the con game with a good ending... Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Also; Memento, Usual Suspects, Fight Club, and Snatch all have those wrap-up endings that re-frame the body of the movie.

Disagree. I thought it was a brilliant movie. The ending left a lot of things open, but not all movies need "and they lived happily ever after", or closure for that matter. Some people fail to realize that this movie is based off of a very dense and symbolic novel. However, since most people don't read novels, they don't understand how to interpret literature, nor can they interpret cinematic literature. Meet the Spartans will spell out the ending for you, but No Country makes you think about it. That was the point. It was not a single story, but a collection of characters and their motivations. At the end, all of the character stories (except for Chigur) are resolved. As for Chigur, he is the personification of evil, and thus, his story will never be resolved. Spoiler alert!! The MEXICANS killed Louellen got the money at the end of the movie. It never was said, but it is plainly seen that the Mexican gangsters are also chasing the money from the broken deal.

"American Psycho", the novel (and movie, for that matter)l, has no closure, no real meaning to it either...but is very thought provoking and a great piece of literature.

Ok, 2 of us thought the Mexicans got the money and 2 did not know who got it. We tried to tell them that the Mexicand killed Llewellen at the motel and Chagur killed the Woody Harrelson character. Thanks for confirming. Disagree. I thought it was a brilliant movie. The ending left a lot of things open, but not all movies need "and they lived happily ever after", or closure for that matter. What about the coin by the removed air vent that looked like the one from Chigur's pocket? The Mexicans didn't figure out where it was with the transponder, why would they find it without? Also, the lock was shot out when Bell went back to the room.....I'm sure the Mexicans could have gotten it, I think there are signs that Chigur could have as well....

I'm still not sure why, but I still bawl my eyes out every time - at the end of She's Having a Baby... when that friggin Kate Bush song starts.

The Mexicans did figure out where it was with the transponder. They were staying in the room next door to Moss when he was in the motel. That is why, when Moss put the money in the vent, Chigur broke into the room next door, and killed a group of Mexican gangsters. Also, Chigur broke into the room after the murder. If you look closely, when sheriff Bell goes into the room, Chigur is hiding in there, but he lets Bell leave with his life. Chigur and Bell arrive several hours after Moss is killed by the Mexicans, since it is night.

Right, I understand that he went back much later and that Chigurh was there when Bell came in.....I think Bell was under the impression he had just missed Chirgurh, but knew he had been there as Bell saw the missing lock. I missed the part that the Mexicans were next door to Moss (wife was asking lots of questions). I thought they were in his room as Moss figured it out because the blinds had been opened and that was why he had the cabbie drive him past, then to a new hotel--my bad.

How did you miss the part where the Mexicans were next door to Moss? Chigur murdered all three of them, including the guy who he shot after closing the shower curtain while he was hiding in the tub.

I didn't miss the part where he shot them....closing the curtain on the guy without waiting to listen to what he had to say was classic. I missed that he was next door and not in Moss's room when he did it; I thought he went directly and looked in the dresser, under the bed, then in the air vent after shooting those guys. I missed where he went to the next room over.....I guess I thought the Mexicans were in Moss's original room and that Anton was next door to them to start with.

I thought that bell was going to get it for sure when he went into the hotel room. That dude was on one crazy killing spree. Gumby, technically there was an ending to the movie as I am pretty sure they turned the movie off, the lights came on and I walked out the door. But no your right the ending sucked. I thought that guy should have took a bullet.

Well, okay. TECHNICALLY, the movie ended. But not REALLY.
Sorry, but I just hate shit like that. Give me an ending. Not too much to ask for my $, IMO. I pay to be entertained, not to come up with an ending on my own. If I wanted to do that, I'd go into writing screenplays and save my $8.50 a pop.
