Renews next week and they want liek $450 for 3 years. You guys had any luck jamming them down on price and if so, what are your tricks? I have about 9800 miles on my float, about 6000 of which were rolled up going to IC, Neck Moines or Fort Dodge, so I don't drive much and don't really feel like shelling that much coin, but it sure is nice having satellite between Aurora and the QC where there are liek no fucking radio stations.

What kind of Moran pays for satellite radio. The tune in app on mah smart phone pulls in radio from all over including NPR and dozens of ESPN radio affiliates.

I renew mine every 6 months and have for the last 2 years by waiting a week before it is about to expire and telling them I want to cancel. The sales guy doesn't give a shit how many times you have received the special deal as he just wants credit for the sale.
$25 for 6 months or $31 if you want all the channels.
Sure it sucks I have to do it every 6 months but beats paying full price. They also don't keep you on the phone very long, put a reminder in my phone a week before it expires, on the phone for lik 5 minutes tops and I am good to go.
I have heard they also have a year special but it is more expensive then the 6 month deal so I just do what I have been doing.
Obviously it is also important to not forget to cancel or they will bill you full price for the next 6 months.

Yeah, that's the path I've been thinking of taking mahself. There are dead spots out in north central Illinois for data service, but I only drive through there a few times a year anyway. I've got to think that Sirius is on the brink of being royally fucked bince a lot of cars have their own streaming data device in them now.

Nah, they are fixing to try, but mah credit card number has changed because some asshole in Birmingham, AL stole mah credit card info and made a fake card to charge a bunch of shit. Thx 4 info, I'll call them tomorrow and see what I can get. Is it just automatic - like you say "I'm cancelling and then they say, "sir I can get you a sweet deal"" type of thing?

Pretty much, they drop their shorts pretty quickly as I said they don't get credit for someone dropping their service only those that renew. What I always say is I really like the service but I am not in my car as much and don't think the price is worth it anymore. Or some shit like that. Then if they don't offer it right a way I just ask if they are running any deals.

I fucking hate sports talk radio, brah. "Okay, we've got Jim from Alsip. Jim, what's on your mind?" "Hey, thanks for having me on. First off, I want to say that the decision not to try to work with Urlacher was probably the biggest mistake the Bears have ever made. Second, this Garcia guy in Charlotte should be called up and playing second base for the Sox. I don't know why they would blah blah blah." Fuck that shit.

You forgot the "I love the show and long time listener" part of the intro. Then the awkward "thanks" and then another awkward transition to the guy actually saying his pointless comment.

Dude, the only reason to listen to the score is for the terrible callers! I will listen to Boers and Bernstein on occasion, and the contempt they have for their callers is hilarious.

The contempt is fine. But there is contempt for the listeners, too, because they have a 3 or 4 hour block where they say fucking nothing. It goes: "The Cubs have got to get Tanaka. [Dead air for 14 seconds]. Tanaka. [Dead air]. Tanaka really brings something the Cubs need. They need..." Interruption. "Face it, they need to completely revamp both the starting lineup and the pen. [Dead air]. The team ERA last year was 4.57. You just can't..." Interruption "You really can't expect to win with that level of ERA. ERA needs to be lower. [Dead air]. And they need run support. Cubs need to get better production out of the 4-8 hitters because they just didn't get it done last year. [Dead air]." It is an insult to my intelligence to listen to that shit.

I just got a renewal notice that my "Free Trial" was ending...
I thought WTF, I forgot I had free XM with the new cars as I hadn't figured out how to turn it on.
So I'll let it expire.

I drive all over small town Iowa. Being able to listen to SVP and the like during the day is essential. You can get $86 for 12 months if you push them. I suggest you let it expire before you call.

Then if they don't offer it right a way I just ask if they are running any deals. My shit finally cancelled and I called in and got some Indian broad. They left mah account on and she was liek "you have to pay $17 to bring your account back to current." I said "I never consented or contracted for you to leave it on. I'll pay the subscription fee and that's it." She immediately backed down and then she said the subscription fee was $517 for 3 years with the royalties and I said "no thanks." No counteroffer or anything. Might re-up month by month for football season when I will drive to Iowa a few times, but I can buy A LOT of shit on iTunes for $500 over 3 years and with Pandora and iTunes radio, I just don't see how this shit is a good deal unless you are driving in the sticks where there is no radio or data coverage. The only unique content on there I want is the college football games and I use that once or twice a year on the drive back from IC.

You'll probably receive a personal phone call from Mel Karmazin John C. Malone James E. Meyer some time later today, begging you to re-up. Bwahaha. Liberty Media taking that thing private. That's about as sound as the Time Warner-AOL merger.
