So a bitcoin is basically a unique piece of data consisting of an incredibly long and complex series of numbers or codes. They are created by big powerful comouters though a process called mining. These computers solve long complex equations and the resulting answers are bitcoins. Its a long and difficult process which means the "supply" of new bitcoin is really limited. Once created they can be owned and traded just like any other coin or commodity. Think of bitcoin as gold. They have little inherent value and are of little use in the day to day world. Their value comes from the fact other people want them, and they generally meet the requirements of money (They are mediums of exchange, yadda yards yards). Their valuation depends on supply and demand just like any other commodity. Right now people are buying bitcoin at a much faster rate than it can be mined so prices are going through the roof. For example Elon bought 1.5 billion dollars worth a few weeks ago and the price jumped 10% instantly. Tanks. So you have a bitcoin or do you just invest? I think I get it. I used to be in the market for Beanie babies. If you could get those pups on the Hallmark market they were only $5 but often demand was just to high and you’d have to spend some real coin to get the good ones. That gold fish was supposed to be worth some money. Wonder if I could trade a couple Rubbermaid tubs of beanie babies for a Bitcoin or two? All tags still on and mint condition... I haven't looked at a Beckett price guide magazine or any beanie babies on eBay in quite awhile, but last I saw the trend was to the moon. I am assuming that these trends have only continued and that by this point my '87 Topps factory set must be worth at least $50k and your bean babies are probably worth millions.

I haven’t checked in sometime either but I’m sure you’re right. Interest in the royal family seems to be at an all time high at the moment and I think my Princes Diana bear could possibly fetch me an early retirement option. I dunno though...might keep them as family heirlooms. Leave them as a secret nest egg to my kids and grandkids after the state takes my house to pay for nursing home care.

You should require that your will be read aloud in the presence of your family after your death. In the will, include a clause stating "The family treasure chest is buried at [___] and I have included a writing therein describing the disposition of the contents and request the presence of my entire family during its excavation." I would also hire a company with a backhoe to dig the hole and get that thing all the way down to the bed rock just to complicate extraction efforts. When your family opens it and finds that Princess Di bear, beanie babies and a Jose Canseco rookie card, they will be overjoyed with their newfound wealth.

Hot take - the outer banks should never have been developed. Shore lines erode. Been going on for millennia. You can slow it down like Japan with concrete tetrapods all over the place that look like total shit, but water lapping up against sand and rock will eat it away relatively quickly. The Appalachians used to be taller than the Rocky Mountains. The Grand Canyon was cut by a fucking river. Water is a really god damned strong force and I ain't got any sympathy for someone who built on a coastline. OK4P to residents of Outer Banks seeking a handout: "GET FUCKED."

They want your taxes though to help them through. Damn shame there are millions of homes throughout history that were forcibly abandoned for similar reasons. Could probably get a lucrative fire starting business going there.

If you want a vacation home, go north on a lake. Global warming is gonna make lake country MN, WI, and MI damn fine over the next century or so. You can rent a place on the SC coast for under 2k per week if you want to enjoy beach time.

If it pulls back, consider ticker VALE. I'm in that beast. It does mining in Brazil, where there aren't a bunch of tree hugging lunatics and plaintiffs lawyers trying to stop them at every turn.

This is probably pretty accurate tbh. But it's really not entirely fair to blame the guys for all of this. Men in this society are held to almost impossible and increasingly narrow standards and definitions of desirability and success. It's the same shit women have been dealing with, with an infusion of testosterone and aggression and inability of males to address their insecurities. Women aren't held to impossible standards because testosterone will cause a gal who is a 4 turn into a 9.5 at 1:40 in the morning in an Iowa City bar. The inverse is not true. A woman has intrinsic value that most men never will. Until she hits The Wall anyway. The problem the guys have is hypergamy. The rape factories masquerading as colleges are skewing close to 60/40 female and the gals don't want to marry down. "Oh you didn't go to college and run a business with a crew of 20 guys who hang drywall? NEXT." The educated female to educated male imbalance in places like NYC and Chicago has created a monster. There's an inverse of that monster in Seattle and Silicon Valley. The testosterone is still present when the woman is a 4. The real change occurs when the male consumes mass quantities of alcohol. Or so I've heard.

As an employee of ACT, I can attest there is no stock to short. Is a funded non-profit and we have been aware of this for quite a while. There are still millions of test takers.

Don’t get me wrong. I am a strong believer in these tests and the lack of them should imho be a non starter for admission.

I'm here to own a bad call. I thought for sure GME would drill when they did a secondary, but it didn't. They closed a $550 million stonk offering the other day and there is so much demand out there that the price stayed up. When you're right 52% of the time, you're wrong 48% of the time.
