This guy has some good info He sounds like a conspiracy theorist suggesting that the responsible party is the primary source for the information and that it just gets repeated by politicians and the media. The sharing of biased or false news has become all too common on social media. This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.

JFC Ging, pay attention..... Sorry. Was so focused on the earthquake in another country across the world that doesn’t affect that I failed to notice the train accident in my own country but in a state that I’ll probably never go in.

I don't watch the news but I heard about it some time ago. Is it true that "no one is talking about it?" Irregardless, when I saw the watershed map for the Ohio River Basin I was glad that the eastern continental divide is right off I-26 on the South Carolina-North Carolina border so that shit will stay out of our pristine watershed. This area was pretty well preserved for water thus far because everything comes down the watershed from NC, but there was no industrialization of that area because the terrain is too rough. You get south of Greenville and the water gets bad from all the textile mills that dumped God knows what for decades, but the water sources to the north are some of the cleanest water supplies in the country.

I sucks to be sure, but 1,000,000 pounds is like 5-6 tank cars.....so not a sensational amount by any means at all to be transported.

I feel I need to postface this a bit, you know, because it's bound to trigger O'Keefe in one way or the otter.
I'm not saying 1,000,000 lbs. of Vinyl Chloride isn't much Vinyl Chloride; I'm saying the type of people(look at what I'm saying/doing/tweeting about!) "BREAKING THIS CASE CUZ IT AINT GETTING ANY ATTENTION" like to use terms/numbers that pop off the page and gut you, for a few minutes anyways until your latte is done, then it's on to the next crisis that you'll do nothing about...

I'm just sad that Orange Man is gone and I don't have anywhere to direct my Two Minutes of Hate. We know this Orange Man's fault, but without him in power it is hard to keep people focused on what really matters and it seems wrong to direct hate anywhere but there.

Well sonofabitch. I went to check CNN's website to see what they were saying about this. Checked on my phone, scrolled all the way to bottom. Crickets. Stories in order were ban guns, the Military Industrial Complex assures us that Russia has lost, racist video taken at high school, UFOs, COVID scraps, Nikki Haley running, new shoes everyone needs for spring, heroic Super Bowl music performances, lottery winner appears, and so on.

It's a recent article still on Yahoo News, CBS News, NBC News, Fox News(of course it's a Buttigieg-bashing thing there), and ABC as well.
Obviously you have to expend a few calories of energy to scroll down 2-3 articles to see it, but it's there. There's only so much space for headlines/crises anymore....
My question? What now? It needs to be on milk cartons? It's a horrible situation. But what now? We can't stop kids from being shot to death in schools, how are we going to "fix" this?

Well, there is always "thoughts and prayers'.

Totes fine, then. Look at this sentence from the report: "Nitric acid mist will probably be scrubbed in the mouth or nasal passages, gas and vapor in the upper respiratory tract, and fume and aerosol in the alveolar region of the lungs." That word "probably" should provide a lot of assurance for all those people who drove through that.

Shit's dangerous, for sure, but as long as you're not inhaling it directly or taking a bath in it it's wayyy better outcome than the vinyl chloride burning/dumping.
