The kids and I went to see the WWE show in Cedar Rapids last night. We had a great time. It wasn't a sellout but there were probably 5,500 people there. Some of the big stars from RAW and ECW were there such as Batista, William Regal, CM Punk, Kane, Mark Henry, Santino Marella, Beth Phoenix, Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr.
Did anyone else go to the event?

scotthawk, I went. Had 7th row seats on the main floor. Even though we were only maybe 20 feet from the ring, the seats sucked. Too many heads to look over. I could only see the top half of the wrestlers and when they were down on the mat in a headlock or something, I couldn't see sh*t. After about 4 matches, we went up to the balcony to watch the rest, at least we could see what was going on. I thought the best match was Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry, maybe it's just cuz they were beatin on each other with chairs and stuff. Thought the Batista/Regal match sucked. Too short. Kane vs. Punk was okay. The crowd was dead because it was face vs. face. I cheered for Kane... I think even I could whip CM Punks ass. Imagine that, me as the World Heavyweight Champion. I liked when Marella said, "I don't know why they call this place Cedar Rapids.. You people are so slow!" Overall it was good time. Something to do the Friday night before an Iowa game. Here's a shot from our original seats: And here's where we moved to after we got sick of craning our necks:

Our seats were the first row in the concourse looking directly at the ring. The seats were perfect, no obstruction from people in front. You are correct, the Batista match was pretty short. I think Santino Marella is the best personality going in the WWE. I liked it when the crown went silent in the Snitsky match he would yell SHUT UP!!! at someone in the audience to get the crowd going again. Were one of the grown men walking around wearing a chapionship belt?

Did you guys see any fat dudes there? I went to a wrasslin' event right after the wolfpack came out and I was sporting a wolfpack shirt. I had to throw up the "TOOOOO SWEEEEET" like 5000 times and I haven't been to wrasslin' bince then.

Fat Guys....besided Mark Henry there were several big fat guys walking around. One was in my section carrying around a championship belt like he actually won it.

This entire country is chock full of fat guys, have you looked around lately? so of course there were some there. I wouldn't say any more than what you see at the fair or the races or Target.
I thought about challenging a few of those guys for their belts. I want one, but would never pay for it. You have to earn your championship through piledrivers, tilta-whirl backbreakers, thumbs to the eye, and low blows when the ref has his back turned. You don't just walk up to the concession stand and order a belt with your corndog.

"you don't just walk up to the concession stand and order a belt with your corndog".......funny as hell, and I completely agree.

I've never been to a pro wrestling event, and I'm not a huge fan of the stuff anyways, but I do think it'd be entertaining to go, at least once.
I have several friends that were, and still are, big fans of it. I don't really understand the appeal, but I must admit, I do think it would be fun to go see it in person, just once. Though I would probably make sure it were a Monday night event since I'm not a big fan and would need some serious drama to entertain me.

Please tell me that CM Punk does NOT have a belt.
If so, I am never watching wrasslin' again. Because if some dude that looks like he used to manage the Musicland store in Marshalltown can win a belt, then ANYONE can.

Yes, CM Punk is holding the WHC belt. The main belt that is defended on Raw.
He won the Money in the Bank ladder match at this year's Wrestlemania, which means you can challenge any champion at any time in the next year. Well Edge (former WHC) was out one day gloating about something or other and Batista came out and beat the crap out of him. So as Batista was walking back, Punk came galloping out to challenge an unconcious Edge for his title. They got a ref in there and Punk executed his finisher and pinned him and became the champ.
Since becoming champ he hasn't had a clean win that I can remember. Count-outs, DQs, outside interference. Crap like that. This weekend he's in a 5-way match for the belt at a PPV. It's possible that he will lose it then.
I'm all for smaller guys like Shawn Micheals and Chris Benoit holding the belt and not always a steroid freak, but CM Punk? Come on, he's got a Pepsi logo tatooed on his arm. How gay is that?

Ric Flair is no longer wrestling.
Fukking CM Punk is WHC.
Yep. It's official. No reason to ever watch wrasslin' again.

Am I reading this right? All this dislike for CM (chick magnet) Punk.....I like Punk and the way he became the champ. You need to cash in the Money in the Bank deal when you have the chance and he did. It was pretty convenient that he won the championship right after he was drafted to RAW though, the highest rated tv show on Monday night.

LMAO!! Is the what CM stands for?
He couldn't get laid in Marshalltown on "Jenny Craig Cheat Night" with a box full of Twinkies.

Yea, he was part of the Chick Magnets tag team. CM Punk teamed up with CM Venom. I don't remember that directly, I looked it up to see what CM stood for.

Well he wasn't always a steroid freak. And even so he was still a 'little guy'.
CM Punk isn't the worst wrestler ever... but he wasn't ready for the big belt yet. You can't take a guy who was jobbing to Elijah Burke on the 'C' show and move him to the 'A' show and give him the belt a week later. You gotta build a guy's credibilty up, especially a 'little guy'. What do you think would have happened if Shawn Michaels faced Hogan and won the belt in 1987? He would have fizzled out. Just like Punk will probably do.

He was a steriod freak just long enough to ruin a lot of lives. The only reason he was a "little guy" is because steroids don't make men grow an additional 7-8 inches in height. If it would, you can bet he would have looked like Batista or bigger. (Not claiming Batista is on roids because I have no way of knowing.)

Roids kinda come with that methinks.

Hey Gumby, Chris Jericho is now the Champ. Does that make you feel any better?
Only thing is CM Punk got kicked in the head by Randy Orton before the championship match (Jericho was his replacement), so now since he didn't actually lose the title... there's a Steel cage match next week on Raw between Punk and Jericho for the belt. So he could win it again... but I smell a screwjob ending... not supposed to happen in cage matches though.

Hey Gumby, Chris Jericho is now the Champ. Does that make you feel any better? A little. I happen to think Triple H should be champ, since he is one of the few who actually looks the part. The fact that CM Punk EVER held the belt just tarnishes it and makes it much less valuable anyway. Tarnished goods...

Triple H is the champ on Smackdown, the WWE Champ. It's confusing, but there's a champ on each show. ECW, Smackdown, and RAW... Matt Hardy is the ECW champ now btw.
Triple H may look the part, but I get tired of him. Plus, he's Vince's son in law and basically can do whatever he wants and people will listen. He's a 12-time world champ now... if he wants to break Flair's record, he can and he probably will. But Hunter Hearst Helmsley is 1/10th the wrestler Ric Flair was, IMO.
