I've dropped 8 pounds in two weeks using the wii fit. Really? That's rad! What's really helping me is the Nutrition Guide that comes with P90X. Portion control is vital, but pretty easy to master. I've been making chicken, salmon, steak, etc... every night for supper the last week or so. Didn't realize just how easy it was to eat healthy. I would post my P90X blog that I am keeping, but I have "before" shots on there and SoCal would wreck me.

Looks interesting. I wouldn't mind trying it for a time to see what I think.

Glad it's working out for you. It is the new trend in exercise videos. All the women I know on facebook are talking about it. My sis in law is doing it. They are making a killing for sure. Me personally, I know how to eat right and exercise. It's just a matter of finding the motivation. I can get myself ripped in 90 days without a workout video. Done it before... a few times actually. It's much easier said than done. It's amazing what a few ripped dudes peddling DVDs can do to our overeating society. They go into a frenzy! You don't need videos, you need knowledge. Then you need motivation. You don't have to pay for it either, it's commonly available at the library, on the internet, or at your local Army bootcamp. Try www.bodybuilding.com There's a massive amount of training and nutrition information that would put p90x to shame. P90x = tae-bo = bowflex = ab rocker = another fad you don't really need to get into shape.

When P90X gets celebrities into his gym and has them kicking and punching to the latest pop hits, then he will have achieved Billy Blanks Tae-Bo status.
the buzz is growing, but p90x is still light years from being as trendy as Tae-Bo was.
The tae-bo people were claiming 'amazing' results too... until they decided to quit doing it.
5 months from now, when the videos get boring and you start to get out of shape again, you need to be able to adapt that knowledge to create a real exercise program that will work for you. You aren't going to want to watch those videos again. They just won't excite you like they do now. It takes a lifestyle change that you can be comfortable with. You need solid, time tested knowledge. I'm sure p90x is based on that knowledge. But it's out there.
Glad you got bootleg copies of those. I have a secret love for bootleg entertainment.

I know the workout well....the group next to me in the Navy Hospital cranks up the TV to do the workout at the same time I'm teaching my step aerobics....we get into dualing volume battles..... (No cracks about me teaching step....come try it sometime...I'll kick your ass for an hour!) To expand...I'm preparing for the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA) Group Exercise Certification on March 28th. www.ndeita.com/certification/groupfitness.htmHave been studying a 300-page manual for 4 weeks....then on the 28th I go to an all-day seminar, academic review for 8 hours, 100-question exam, then have to teach in front of a panel of 3 (kinda like Idol) for an entire 45-minute routine. (That'll be the easy part) I'm excited...I've been a step participant bince 1993, been teaching as a volunteer for the Navy for 14 months and this certification will allow me to expand out into the private clubs. Talk about a rooster in a hen house!

I am not planning on doing the videos after 90 days. After that, it's just going to be regular cardio (treadmill and elliptical).

My goal is to run a 5k in a few months. My shin splints really have been impeding my progress. I called my doc up and he basically said my fatass needs to lose a little weight before running. So, I've been sticking to the elliptical and the bike (they have the sweet expresso machines). This is a little different for me as weight training used to be my primary objective. I lost 30 pounds my 2nd year in college...I can do it again.

Your weight might have some effect on them but you shouldn't have to lose any before running.

I was doing all sorts of exercised that have been recommended to me by track runners, marathon runners, and others affected by shin splints. I spent about 15 minutes every morning stretching as well. I'm kind of at a loss at this point, but will not give up. I tried just running through the pain, but that didn't work to well!

Ya, I did that...along with rubbing Biofreeze on my shins. It all helps, but they are still on fire to the point of not being able to bend my ankles after a mile.
I think I just need to shed some weight, first.

I went out and spent $150 on "The Beasts"!
I have a friend that's a runner, and recommended them. I can definitely tell a difference.
Gumby - I'm not sure how to tell if I'm flat footed...

Spank, let me know how the training goes. Like I said, my bro used it and I'm sure I can get the material off of him.

I have severe time constraints, so my weight training is comprised entirely of "descenders." It's a program I created. Essentially, you start out with the heaviest weight you can, and move down ten pounds each set, no rest. You do a max of ten sets. At the end of the exercise, you move the weight to the midpoint and do five reps where you hold for two seconds in the middle of the contraction and the extension. Each exercise takes about 3-4 minutes. You can get a complete weight training session done in 20 minutes. I'm stronger than ever, I don't get injured, and I still have time for some cardio.
Maybe I should patent that shit.

Who knows though, maybe it's not actually patented though!
