Never knew about the CRI of LED's. Will look into that. And yes, on-demand electrical will be going in after the panels are installed. Good idea. 30 gallon tank is more than enough. for an electric tankless water heater, look at Rheem and EcoSmart exterior mount is preferable, fwiw I think I've said this before....probably in a thread about BTU's, but we talked to a tankless rep a few years ago that said they really don't work so well in Minnysoda because the water comes into the house too cold, especially in the winter. I can vouch for that. Maybe two tankless in line would work....

I think there is no truth to that claim, but I'd direct the question to a manufacturer of tankless heaters, not a local plumber. The water coming from our well is ungodly cold all year round, and it has no impact on the heater. It only takes a matter of seconds before the water is flowing at 120° F. It was the sales rep of the product not the local plumber.

It was the sales rep of the product not the local plumber. I bet he ain't working for that mfr any more. Because he couldn't close even one deal. Probably working at a sports bar or something nowadays. When you have a product you believe in, you don't need to sell it. Print music practically sells itself.

I already posted this elsewhere...but...do explain the lower-knob/shape-of-knob? I missed it.... My front door is 42 x 96. I posted a photo when it was installed, and because there was nothing in the photo to provide perspective, the optical illusion was that the handleset was mounted too low. Evidently no one else on here has a 42 x 96 front door. Hilarious? Quite.

You are kidding yourself if you think your solar system can feed an electric on demand water heater. That thing is going to require 28,000 watts of power, so at 120 volts, you are talking over 200 amps.

I'm thinking a small nuclear powered unit would work OK. If homeland security wouldn't have a problem with a suitcase sized nuclear device.

Alrightie then....just signed the contract with All Energy Solar. 16 panels x 280W/panel = approx 4500 W system. (Yeah, I know...less then the 8 previously mentioned, but 100 amp service limits wattage). This will take care of 65-70% of my elec needs. After credits, $8800 installed. 9 year pay back. This is based upon 94% solar availability to my roof, and *no* Util price increases. (uh huh) AES takes care of all pre-install permits, after-install inspections, (get this) writing and incorporating local pub Util net-metering policy AND pricing! 25 year warranty on panels/micro-inverters and lifetime online solar/inverter monitoring. Mid summer install planned....pics to be posted then. P.s. I'll give a shout out to vint...the rep said by replacing my old bulbs with new LED, I could cut my elec by 10%. LOL...you got me on that one pal. Much less than you thought you were going to be paying I see. Was the limitation on the panels due to lack of roof space or the 100 amp service? Would that be a big upgrade to move up to a bigger one to be completely covered? But hey, 65-70% is no small drop in the bucket. Add on those LED lights like Chuckles recommended and that should help you as well. And that's a great deal considering that they'll handle all the permits, etc and the net metering deals too. Why such a long lead time for the install?
