Laugh all the way to Florida and cry the whole time you are there. Cuz Florida sucks. I'll be so into my redbud and 40....trust me, I won't notice. Well you have lived in Iowa for 60 years. So I guess you wouldn't notice.

You bring up a point that honestly I've never thought about....just how many years have I lived in Iowa? 0-18 = 18 20-24 = 4 28-31 = 3 53-57 = 4 29 years is like 51%....about half. Wow. And only 1/348 = 0.28735% with solar. Wow.

Oh, someday I will...when I head up to the Vet's home in Marshalltown. Or, I'll just take a reverse mortgage on the place. Or, since it's paid for, just sell it outright and pocket the increases and laugh all the way down to FL. Choices, choices. Laugh all the way to Florida and cry the whole time you are there. Cuz Florida sucks. Bonus, Tweeter will be retiring in AZ, not FL. So FL>AZ. Plus, free sinkholes and less messicans.

Which coal is being retired exactly? The smoke belching, land-stripping, air-polluting kind I guess.

I take it you didn't read the comments on that page. Even your pro solar environmental wacko brethren agree that the actual increase in capacity from solar is negligible. I estimate your installation may be 5% of the total increase. Congratulations.

It's not circling the carcass. Solar isn't even remotely close to being legitimate for high end power generation/transmission. I know i know, breakthroughs.. That's why you see so many solar farms all over the country........ Keep dreaming, and posting articles about breakthroughs like they have been claiming for the last 30 fucking years.

My normal off-budget electrical bill this month has averaged $170 the past three years (2 kids at home, a bazillion electronic devices plugged in, a/c runs more than necessary, washer/dryer both running like 4x a week...you get the picture).
Got my bill today....$68.
And that was only a 22-day billing period with the solar operational. The other 8 days were pre-solar.
Sweet.

I think it was a little higher than that. Call your accountant to maybe go over some stuff.

The system generated 609 kilo-watt hours in July.
Some interesting facts....
That represents the following: 12.5% of my total annual usage, same CO2 offset as planting eleven trees, could power a 100w curly-fry light bulb for 5.3 years or charge a mobile phone for 18.9 years, run an average refrigerator for 5 months, and could light the Eiffel Tower for three hours!
(....unsure of how many miles it could power that new all-electric Soul....)

Hey, I read that the Pella people wanted to place a fee like $68 or $? to each solar user in their district. Does this apply to U?

^^No such anti-solar folks in Durant, either in the community or the electrical coop. That's an underhanded way by the utilities to make it non-cost-effective.^^

Serious question, Seth. What has solar done, or is it doing, to increase capacity? On a hot, cloudy summer day you're still going to need a coal-, hydraulic- or nuclear-powered generator somewhere producing electricity to run your AC and your fridge to keep shit cool or frozen.
