And not one of those faggy hybrids that Billy probably wipes down with his dainty hands, but one that is fully electric. I'm talking a Tesla, or Nissan Leaf, Chevy Bolt or the BWM i3/8. I'm debating on picking up a newish leaf because they are honestly pretty damn cheap. I have access to buy a 2015 with less than 20k miles on it for less than 8k which isn't really that bad. Or I could buy a brand spanking new one for about 12k after rebates and discounts here. What would you do? (Granted, 7500 of the discount on a new one is a federal tax rebate so I'd have to wait a year to get that)
My work has free charging stations here that I can use and there are tons all around the city that I can use to top off my charge wherever I want to be honest. I'm not thinking of it as I'm saving the world type of situation, but that electricity rates on what I'd pay are a hell of a lot less than the gas I would pay for in a normal car. We'd still keep the other car so we would have our long range vehicle. Of course, I have to convince my wife who is a Republican and hates all things hippy or even remotely liberal thinking. Except pot. She loves pot. But other than that, fuck them libby hippy fags.

May as well revisit this thread. What the fuck was I thinking about a goddamn leaf. Pure shit.
Now, the Kia EV6 looks nice and what not. Fuck Tesla and their shitty made cars, I'll never buy one of those. If I had approval on 120k to drop on one the Mercedes EQS is fucking amazing. The VW ID4 looks nice, but it's slow as fuck and probably has a hidden diesel engine with shit emissions hidden in it. I am happy though to see more options out there. I'm still rolling in the same car I had back when 9 made this thread and really want to fucking get rid of it. But of course the car market is pure bullshit right now. Part of me wants to have one last fun gas burner car, and the other part wants a solid EV. Either way, it's going to be sub 5 second 0-60 for me to want.

I gotta hybrid last March. There’s not a lot of infrastructure yet for electric where I am. Our newest Hy-Vee has some plug in places but I haven’t seen too many otherwise. If you plug in your car can someone walking buy just unplug it? That will become the new passive aggressive thing to do as well as key your car. In a few years they’ll be all over.
The hybrid isn’t perfect but I get twice as much gas mileage as I did with my 2005 sienna van. Just driving around town I only fill up once per month. You don’t save much in gas when on the highway though. If I drive to Iowa City I fill up before I leave and can get there and get back on the return trip to Waterloo before I fill up again, which is a a little better but not great.

The plug in hybrid is the way to go. You get 30-50 miles on the battery, which I enough for 90+% of your daily trips, but you also get a gas tank so you can take it anywhere. They still qualify for full federal rebate too.
Brother has one of the Rav4 prime plug ins. Fucker has 300hp 0-60 in the mid 5 second range. It's a riot to drive

It's a riot to drive I can't believe the government isn't going balls deep on subsidizing this over a pure hybrid or a pure electric. The plug-in should be the future for the short and intermediate term. It can take power from the grid at night during off peak hours but won't be incapable of going on a family trip. Building out enough juice in places like Walcott, Iowa for pure electric is going to take fucking decades.

If I drove exclusively in the city I’d get EV but that’s just not practical with all of the road trips I take. Our weekend trips would be just outside the range of viable electric. Dirty Myrtle is like 250 miles and our spot in the mountains is about 100, but the charging infrastructure is gonna be a son of a bitch to build into the mountains and I doubt that in August going up a mountain the mileage will be anywhere near what is advertised, especially with the clusterfuck that Asheville has become. Fuck me sideways, that place makes the old "Strangler" (pre I-pass) in Chicago look like child's play. I need to run for County Council here and try to copy Portland's anti-development plan. I went to the tire shop today and one intersection took me fucking 17 minutes to get through. I see what the people in Portland were thinking when they came up with their "this is the fucking sprawl line" zoning map. My guess is that would be deemed unconstitutional in SC, though.

Loving my PHEV (2022 Escape PHEV Titanium). Cheap as shit relatively. Had to order it in order to get one in the midwest, but happy so far. 800 miles on it so far and did my first fill up. They say 520 mile range with standard setting, but I am getting 20ish miles full electric in the cold. Even though I have it set to go "100% Battery use first" mode, the engine still kicks in for a few minutes to warm up the motor. So our trip to dinner ended up being 105mpg vs. full electric. With the solar panels and federal rebate, might be the cheapest car I've ever bought. evadoption.com/ev-models/available-phevs/

Hmm, BMW does make a hybrid X5 that is a PHEV. Well, not doing anything until summer at the earliest, unless some moron wrecks my car. I do have a ton of charging infrastructure here in KC and even the shitty little town with maybe 1k people a few miles down the road has several charging spots. Although seemed like most of those spots were taken by rednecks with small dick Trucks.

My buddy did a track day at BMW in November and drove one and said it is absolute tits. He said he would buy one but he has 4 kids and has to have a minivan. If you order one new, you can come down here and pick it up. They'll let you do a track day as well, or they used to anyway. Just hit me up if you come down. The track ain't far from my house and I'd like to take some laps, too.

Through the stop sign. Into cross traffic and a bicyclist. All the others are proven safer/better? Or you just cherry-picking accident reports like the media and big auto does?

Most other cars don't drive themselves into buildings, no Stop attacking my cousin. He has finished his jail time and community service. Anyone could have hit that barn. And he was framed, he did not start drinking until AFTER the crash. The defense is airtight.
